After games like this people always sound like we can do this every game if we only decide to play this way. However, the other team and the refs have to cooperate for this to occur. Generally, we have a very good shooting team and if left open can hit our open shots at a better rate than our opponents. But the teams that have given us the most trouble have physically mauled us and dared the refs to make all the calls. The refs don't and after awhile we get frustrated at being beat up. The texas game was a prime example. The refs let them push us around all game and use physical play to neutralize what we do well. It was hard to play against the other team and the refs. MissSt figured it had to physically dominate us to win the game and get some of our players in foul trouble. They did play a great aggressive defense that wore us down and we just didn't have the reserves to overcome it. I have to credit their defense for hurting our shot making. They didn't make it easy on us. This year we have more players on the bench so we can defend harder but getting our key players in foul trouble can still be a good strategy if the bench can't score like the starters. It will be very interesting to see how the Cards approach the game at CT. They have been known to use the physical approach in the past, but I haven't seen them play this year and they appear to be a very good offensive team. Will they play more like ND or UCF? We shall see! Go huskies!
