Quick quiz: Who is the most accurate 3 pt shooter on UConn this year w/ at least 10 attempts? Has to be Azzi right? Actually, not... Blanca is 7-12 or 58.3%. Azzi is 27-49 or 55.1%. Clearly, Azzi has way more attempts and is smoking hot from beyond the 3 point arc. Here are more strange but true 3 pt shooting stats:

1. Allie's 5 threes on Sunday doubled her total for the season. In 7 games, she is 10-23 or 43.5%.
2. During Sunday's game at Xavier, UConn took 36 threes and 36 non-three point shots. They made 18 threes (50%) and only 17 non-threes.
3. Both Ashlynn and Azzi made 4 threes Sunday. That raised Azzi's % to 55.1%, but Ash's to only 29%.
4. Both KK and Sarah have a made % of 29%. (KK is 4-14 and Sarah is 7-24).
5. For the season, UConn is now shooting 38.1% from three point range. Last year the Huskies shot 38.2% from outside the arc.
6. The three leaders in made threes are Azzi (27), Allie (10) and Ashlynn (9).
7. With 181 threes tried in 7 games, UConn is averaging 25.8 attempts per game. Last year that total was 22.5 per game.
8. Interestingly, Kelis is 0-3 from three range, but 7-9 from closer in & 4-4 from the charity stripe.
9. For the season, UConn is averaging 90.3 points per game. (Last year = 80.7 for all 40 games)

Thoughts?
Go Huskies..!!

Edit - Yes, Sarah started slowly from 3 range last year, but finished near 40%. Agree she has a sweet stroke...

To add to your post: Up through December 1, 2025, UConn is 7-0 and they are averaging 90.3 points per game. Through December 3, 2024, UConn was 7-0 and was averaging 81.07 points per game.

I have NO DOUBT that Uconn players WILL get their 3-shot back to normal ( 45% ) or better and believe when they do, with Allie and Blanca Uconn just might break Uconn's record for 3's in a season. Would love to see it. GO HUSKIES!!!!!!

It seems to me that Azzi's 3 point shooting percentage would give her an advantage over Sarah toward winning the POY award.
Most TV commentators overwhelmingly claim that Sarah is the best player in the nation, but it's awefully hard to ignore Azzi's phenomenal 3 point shooting success so far.
Azzi's 3 point shooting abiity could really be the icing on the cake.

The consensus view on Sarah is based not only on points. If you look at her stats on rebounds, assists, steals and blocks, they reveal she impacts the game in more ways than most players.

She impacts the game in every facet and she can score at all 3 levels.

I do think Azzi's defense is underrated though. Now that she is healthy, she's is very good at keeping between her player and the hoop and has very quick hands.

I think the quick hands on defense is a trait that doesn't get talked about enough with this team. Fudd, Strong, KK, Shade can all take the ball away from a player and make things tough. Ziebell and Blanca look like they could be in the same mold as well.

Finally, after re-watching a few of the games, Strong should have even more assists. There have been a number of easy chances created by great passes where players haven't finished. She really is a triple-double waiting to happen. She has the potential for a triple-double and 5 and 5 game with the way she's able to block shots and get steals.

I suspect that Uconn's scoring average will continue to be near the top of their historic rate because they have a bench capable of keeping the score ticking over in blow outs. The Xavier game is a good example:

Starters played 108 minutes and scored 59 points = 0.55 points/min played
Bench played 92 minutes and scored 45 points = 0.49/min

Considering the pace of play slowed half way through the 3rd Q and for the 4th Q and the press was relaxed/stopped the actual scoring per possession was probably the same. And the shooting percentages for the bench were 48%/57%

We haven't had that quality of bench scoring in a long time when we have been blowing out teams and starters have sat for the 4th Q.

FYI - the MOV should also be high - currently 35.74 with most of the remaining regular season games being BE teams.

I don’t see us shooting 45% as a team but if we did, they might as well give us the trophy now! Has any team ever done this?
