He was a UConn basketball fan, but his passion was wrestling. While coaching UConn's wrestling team he also volunteered his time to youth wrestling programs in Windham and across the state. He was Connecticut's assistant coach of the year at H.H. Ellis Tech and college club coach of the year when at UConn, leading them to high finishes in DII national tournaments and one of his wrestlers reaching All-American accolades. RIP Herm.
