Is Maryland better than ND?
If not, how can UConn beat Maryland by only 8 pts?

Notre Dame without Brianna Turner. Yes they are.
Notre Dame without Turner AND having the shooting game of their lives, going 13-20 from beyond the arc. They were actually better not having Turner and hitting nearly every Playstation/XBox shot they chucked up. No offense to them, but the Irish played out of their minds and still lost by 10. With Turner there, would Cable have had the opportunities, or felt the need to take them? Likely not.

Thinking that MD can come within single digits of UConn is more than a little optimistic. It can happen, but I don't see much to support that possibility. Zero top-25 opponents thus far greatly diminishes a scoring average of 90/gm. MD struggled to beat a very nice SDSU team that ND beat by 11. The Terps only scored 62 in that game, and on a neutral floor, yet. MSG is far from a neutral floor for UConn; yes, it is a near mid-point between the schools in terms of travel time, but I suspect that it will be a home-away-from-home for the Huskies.

I expect an 8-10 point lead for the Huskies at halftime, with the final spread being close to 20. MD is a nice team, but they are not ready for the next step, yet. Regardless, it will be an entertaining game, and Frese will not give up.

Thanks for the link. I know everything he says is true and that's the tone he tried for, but he comes across somewhere between frustrated and gushing.

This was a very good game to highlight how Maryland's offense will produce in a big game. The only two players that had good offensive games against SDSU were Shatori-Walker Kimbrough and Brionna Jones.

Good thing they didn't play the REAL SDSU (San Diego State U)--.
SWK is a very good player ---she impressed me over the summer --but I was impress with Collier, so--that shows my impress quotient. (I'm still impressed with Collier)\
I'd put Gabby on SWK, if she proves to be a problem..

If Stewart's ankle isn't fully healed and Gabby's wheel is nicked from her WWE excursion and Chong is still out and Butler's debut is off again and KLS's long range woes continue and anyone else is under the weather, or injured.................this could go down to the wire, especially if Tuck, Nurse and MoJeff have off nights.

Too many ifs. The case is dismissed.

UCONN needs more games like MD on Monday to prep them for March Madness.......This years team is still missing something.......KLS needs to post up and drive to the hoop more. Kia needs a pull up jumper and stop driving through people ......Stewie needs to stay healthy....MD will expose UCONN's off the dribble poor defense. Still not close enough.............UCONN by 20+

Gillespie kept a Taurasi jersey hanging in her closest as motivation, and as she ascended to two-time Connecticut high school player of the year, the thought of playing for Coach Geno Auriemma’s powerhouse certainly crossed her mind. She even attended Connecticut practices at Auriemma’s invitation, but the match, according to Gillespie, just wasn’t right for either side.

...

“Certain aspects of my game that I have probably didn’t fit [Connecticut’s] program the best way,” Gillespie said. “I just felt like I’d be more successful here at Maryland and just the way that I play and what [Auriemma] was looking for just didn’t fit. He found two great players who fit that program perfectly. He knows how to recruit, and that’s why again they’re the No. 1 team in the country.”

SO obvious Geno dropped the ball on Gillespie....

Regardless of whether or not Geno dropped the ball with Gillespie you have to like the kids honesty and her straight forward approach to answering questions. I'm sure that since Geno spends all his time reading the boneyard...that he will develop his defensive sets in order to make sure she doesn't doesn't do to us what Mabrey did...after all, can't give any legs to that rumor that Geno dropped the ball...(wink, wink)....

The Notre Dame spread of 10 wasn't a close game that wound up double digits. It was a 22 point game and we took the air out of the ball down the stretch.

I think UCONN wins by about 15-17 points or so. I expect it will be close for a while - UCONN might be rusty. Plus playing at MSG - different atmosphere, rims, and sight lines. But I think UCONN goes on a couple of 4 minute runs and that puts the game out of reach. Honestly, with UCONN as banged up as they are (no Butler, Chong not 100%, KLS has been a little bit sick or injured all season, no Boykin, Stewie coming off an ankle sprain), I'd be surprised if we won by 25+ like some seem to think... We will see - prove me wrong UCONN! :)

Tonight's is one of those games that Geno let Stewie goes off because of the comments made by Brenda early last week. Also if Megan Walker is in attendance than that's another reason why Uconn plays it's best so at the end of the game Geno looks at Megan and say well Maryland sure could of used you tonight. Uconn by 18

Very classy comments by her. Btw, classier than a couple of our posters who have to put down our recruits and Geno to bolster their ego.
