The number of records and notable accomplishments by this program is astonishing.

There is a thread devoted to this: Records

But I thought it be valuable to a more permanent record.

The Wikipedia page on the UConn Huskies includes a number of them. While Wikipedia strongly encourages citations to reliable sources, not all of the entries there are adequately sourced.

It's my goal to create a webpage that is complete as possible regarding all records accomplished, with sources. At first it'll be bare-bones factual statements, but I hope to supplemented with neutrally worded commentary.

I get that the immediate focus is on the upcoming weekend, but however that turns out, many will stop checking the site daily until the next season gets close. My hope is that some of you might be willing to treat this as an off-season project, to help create a compendium of records accomplishments and notable quotes.

My very early attempt can be found here:
UConn Huskies Women's Basketball Archive!

My very incomplete to do list can be found here.

UConn records and accomplishment To Do

The list is partially populated by some entries from the records thread here, partly my off the top of the head recollections and is far from complete

Anyone willing to help out is welcome

You are free to use anything from this page on your compilation. Most of what I have is compiled from official sources (listed at the bottom), except for the table of field goal percentage margin which is original research. I don't use Wikipedia-style citations.

I would suggest adding the Wooden to trophies.

The NCAA publishes both a FF records book and a NCAA tournament book in addition to their NCAA basketball records book which I have consulted frequently.

And Mel Greenberg used to maintain an AP Poll compendium - he was the creative mind for it coming into being. Don't know if he still does and I didn't immediately find his blog when I searched his name. I think the NCAA Basketball book also has compilations by team on both polls.

I find both the NCAA and the Uconn record keeping occasionally suspect. Have identified errors on more than one occasion. Specific to the NCAA they made a big deal about some women's program reaching 1000 wins as a school, and didn't list Uconn as one to have already reached that mark, because they only had Geno's wins in their records and he was still short of 1000 wins. While not a winning program, Uconn had a 98 - 152 record pre-Geno.

There's a link to a substantial poll page at the bottom of my page listed above.

Thank all the posters that contributed to this topic, as I love statistics. I am sure that some poster will confirm or deny my next claim. If it's a record, Uconn will be the record holder 80 % of the time. without confirmation, that is what I BELIEVE!!! GO HUSKIES!!!!!!

One stat I like is Undefeated Teams entering the NCAA. Uconn is now at 10, but I like it because a team in a 'lesser' conference can still aspire to it, like Princeton did a few years ago - still a rare feat, but one anyone came aim for.

And Next12 pretty safe assumption for team level, but the opposite for Individual records except games played career and winning percentage career and awards. Too much team play for anyone to accumulate a lot of individual stats.

Thanks, while I knew about your page because as you recall I helped track down some information for I had failed to save the URL, so thanks for supplying it. I agree re Wooden and have added it. (I also need to add USBWA awards (now done)). Citations are important to me because I want readers to be able to track down the supporting information rather than trusting me, but I will look at the achievements you identified and track down the supporting details

If you check out the Wikipedia page summarizing the rankings, you will see the explanation of the AP Poll has a brief bit of the history. It was the poll originally created by Mel Greenberg and then taken over by the AP.

Mel is still publishing his blog:

This is an important distinction, and your observation is exactly on target.

The NCAA stats page tracks 19 categories for individuals, and lists the top 5 for each category, a total of 95 slots, only two of which are UConn players (Azzi Fudd three-point percentage, KK Arnold assists/turnover ratio)

In contrast if you look at team stats, you'll see 26 categories, with UConn leading eight of them, far exceeding LSU who are leading in three of the categories
