UConn receiver Noel Thomas achieves milestone
>>Thomas, a Norwalk native, joined fellow in-state products Alex Davis, Glenn Antrum, David Dunn, Carl Bond and Scott Sweitzer among the 18 Huskies with at least 100 career catches.<<
>>Thomas’ success on the field has been mirrored by his maturity off the field. That growth was never more evident than on the day when Thomas was moving into the apartment that he would be living in for his senior season at UConn. His father Noel Thomas Sr., who coaches UConn commit Omar Fortt at St. Luke’s in New Canaan, saw facets of his son’s personality emerge that he did not see on earlier trips to the UConn campus.
“As a dad, as a coach, as a fan, I am trying hard to concentrate on my football family here but always in the back of my mind is my son and what he is doing at UConn and not just football,” Thomas Sr. said. “Underneath (the tutelage of) Coach (Bob) Diaco he has become a very strong young man as far as character is concerned. When I talk to him, he sounds different and when I watch him, he behaves differently. I helped him move into his apartment and when he was younger he used to not participate and kind of sit back. He is right there putting the lamp together, taking ownership. As a dad that tells me he is on the right track and football is just icing on the cake. I am really jacked up about football because he is stronger, faster, more focused, more professional than I have ever seen him and I can’t wait see what happens.”<<
