I've checked a couple of sites and they show UConn with a 6-3 record against quad-1 teams. Here's one place you can see the quad record, but not the teams involved:

Q1 games are identified by opponent's NET as: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75.

UConn has more than 9 Q1 games according to my calculations.

Here are the 10 obvious ones: UNC (NET 20), Ole Miss (12), Louisville (35, neutral site), ND, Iowa St (34, neutral), USC, Creighton (30, home and away), TN (14), South Carolina (2).

Here are the Big East road wins vs. top-75 NET teams (excluding Creighton): Marquette (NET 58), Villanova (72), St. John's (74), Seton Hall (66)

If the above is correct, UConn has a 11-3 Q1 record.

What am I seeing wrong?

In the NET scoring, quads are calculated differently for the women than the men. Please see below.

Women's basketball quadrant system (vs. team rankings in NET)

  • Quadrant 1: Home (1-25), Neutral (1-35), Away (1-45).
  • Quadrant 2: Home (26-55), Neutral (36-65), Away (46-80).
  • Quadrant 3: Home (56-90), Neutral (66-105), Away (81-130).
  • Quadrant 4: Home (91+), Neutral (106+), Away (131+).
Your calculations might now change. I assume the scoring is done using the ranking at the time the game was played.

Thank you, that explains everything. Creighton home win doesn't count as Q1, and none of the BE road games I listed count.

I think NET uses today's ranking.

I see a few other apparent errors:

UNC was a neutral site game at Greensboro, NC.

Ole Miss was a neutral site game in the Bahamas.
