Fn hell Kemba
People incomprehensibly forget how amazing a competitor he was that year. People remember a few moments in the BET and NCAA on that 11-game run, but his not being NPOY in favor of Jimmer Frickin Ferdette is one of the great snubs in sports history.

3 of those 5 teams were 8th ranked UK who we then of course beat in the final four; 2nd ranked Michigan State; and eventual NIT champion Wichita State.

All over the course of that Maui invitational, averaging 30 a game, before anyone knew what that team full of freshmen really was.

I’ve always said that Bazz was the guy who would rip your heart out from 27 feet; but it just felt like Kemba was doing magic at times

I got to watch Kemba in n person quite a bit, both in a UConn uniform and at the Greater Hartford Pro Am. What set Kemba apart was his quickness and body control. Defenders would be reacting to one move, and he was already on to the next. He carried UConn like Danny Manning carried Kansas in 88.

Remember, he wasn't even Big East Player of the Year. That award went to Ben Frickin Hansbrough of Notre Dame just because they had a better Big East record. I bet you could ask 100 Big East fans who won the 2011 BE POY and more would say Kemba than Hansbrough.
