Uconn Team Stats.jpg

Here are the UConn Women's Team Statistics for the regular season, compared to all of the 345 teams in Division 1. For Offensive Rebounds, they only rank the top 30, and (unsurprisingly) UConn fall outside the range. Rebounding in general is the only area of weakness, as they are barely in the top third for Rebounds per Game. The numbers for last year were a little more dominant, but these are pretty impressive. The only other team that shows up a lot is Baylor.

Thanks for the post.
Does UConn have 12.1 turnovers per game? This is surprisingly high.
Mercer looks like a good team with the lowest turnovers per game and a player with the highest A/T ratio.

12 is a pretty good number and probably about average for UConn. The numbers get a little inflated with blow-outs and lots of bench minutes - wouldn't be surprised if the number through three quarters was around 8 and the fourth quarter added 4 to the total.

Finally had a chance to check the turnover numbers. 12.1 appears to be correct. As a guide, last years team was at 11.7 for the year. The big difference is that last year's turnover margin was +9.1, which was 3rd in the country. This year they are a pedestrian 11th out of 345 in turnover margin.

This shows how efficient UCONN's system is. 1st in A/To, 1st in % for FG, 3rd for 3pt, 6th for FT, 1st in assists, and 2nd in fewest fouls per game. Not a standout rebounding team, nor is their defense as strong as it has been in years past, but offensively this team is on par with some of the best Huskies teams.

For comparison sake, after 3 quarters this team is actually averaging more points per game than last year's senior laden squad (69.2 to 68.6), against a harder schedule. This team has had a lot of growing to do with so much talent being replaced, so they've had more hills to climb than their 2016 counterparts.

Wow! So much information. The first thing that jumped out at me was that Pheesa didn't even rank among the top 150 in FG attempts, yet was third in the nation in FGs made. Also, she was second by less than one percentage point in FG accuracy to Brionna Jones of Maryland. I watched Brionna play quite a bit this year and Pheesa often shoots from places where Brionna wouldn't venture.

Gabby being 34nd in the nation in assists per game is just crazy. So is Saniya's A/T ratio. Lou shooting 49.4% considering the shots she takes is hard to fathom. And two years ago I wouldn't have bet Kia would be hitting almost two three-point shots per game now.

It's true they didn't shine in rebounding department but, then again, most (52.2%) of their shots went in. Tough to grab a rebound when the other team is taking the ball out of bounds.

bballnut90 - that three quarter number is very interesting - and it speaks to this years bench vs. a bench that had Chong, Collier, and Williams on it who were getting significant run last year in the 4th Q.

That both Katie Lou and Napheesa are going to (probably) end up over 20 ppg is remarkable. There have only been five 20+ ppg seasons in UConn history: Maya, Nykesha, and Kerry Bascom three times. To add two in a single season is stunning. Previously, I believe the closest it came to happening was Tina's senior season when she scored 18.2 ppg and Maya had 18.9 ppg.

Think about that for a moment: Katie Lou and Napheesa -- as sophomores -- are outscoring Maya and Tina -- as a junior and senior.

Very true. The bench last year was loaded with talent compared to this season, so the 2nd wave in 2016 wasn't as much of a drop off as it is this season. Any drop off should be minimized next year with Connecticut's outstanding recruiting class and transfers coming in.

Good stats, but as others point out...we play the toughest schedule on the planet and in the other games, our starters minutes go down dramatically
