Very sad news.

When he was hired there were ambitions of actually doing football correctly in Storrs. Unfortunately the school's administration and top politicians in the state wanted nothing like that and cut the legs off any chance to upgrade football.

He was a good man, may he rest in peace.

Sad news he was a good man, I was not aware that he was sick. Oddly I was just telling someone a story about him on Friday. RIP Coach

We had an AD who prided himself on returning money to the general fund.
Todd Turner would also say that the university leadership had no long-term vision for the football program. He turned down a UMass offer when they asked him to sustain their football program. Again, Coach Jackson did a great job. IIRC, Troy Ashley's brother played for PSU. Paterno thought Troy was too small to play there and through Jackson's connections he ended up here and became just a tackling machine at LB.
