I strongly doubt Chief is unaware of what is happening. It’s his tendency to utilize an emotional situation (in this case the access difficulty and added cost for fans) and incite anger for his personal agenda. Which is the removal of Val as BE commissioner. What will be interesting for me is to observe how much traction he gets over this. Will disgruntled Boneyarders succumb to their emotions and join Chief in blaming Val for their negative viewing experience? Or will they read the facts that you and others are pointing out and understand this is a situation outside the control of conference commissioners? What is happening in the world of media is obvious. ALL winning bidders for sports content are selling some of their winning content to other media entities. They make more money doing this. These other entities make more money as well because they know that enough fans will subscribe to offset their costs. Conferences are making more money as well albeit far less than the corporations. All this profit comes at the expense of the fans viewing experience as well as team exposure. But that cost is universal and not at the expense of UConn or BE teams as those with agendas or emotional weakness prefer to make. If the profits don’t happen the situation changes. That means fans have to stop watching and subscribing to the point that there are losses and not profits. I don’t think there is an individual in this community that doesn’t logically understand this. However logic is all too often overtaken by emotion. And this unfortunately can be exploited.
