First mention in print that I've seen of BC backing Louisville. Hardly surprising.

simply put we are very lucky to have both calhoun and geno both as coaches and as representatives of the state, im not going to go into details why b/c any uconn fan already knows why... and now to have KO replace calhoun, we are just flat out spoiled when it comes to coaches.

I won't read Jeff Jacobs because his attacks on JC were part of the negative publicity for UConn. He even went national to hurt the program. Some cliff notes of what he said would be welcome.

This quote from Jacobs hits the nail on the head.

"Calhoun and Auriemma remain powerful men in our state. Their university has come off kind of mealy-mouthed in recent times. It's good to hear some of the old fight."

Typical JJ. We see a lot of whining in these forums but no one holds a candle to JJ. Alright maybe free comes close. But JJ should be elected Prez of the whining club.

Boston College is stupid to not want a strong geographic rivalry. Their move to the ACC has done nothing to help their sports programs, or the school itself. In large part, this is because there's no annual rivalry that grabs the attention of the sports world and there's no games where the opposing team makes up a meaningful percentage of the attendence.

BC has done nothing with their "New England Kingdom," that they so foolishly protect. College sports is mostly about geographic rivalries, but BC doesn't understand that.

I would recommend breaking your rule for this column. But if still don't want to, this is probably the strongest part:

The next writer to call the seven "victims" should be arrested for misdemeanor tomfoolery.

Providence, Seton Hall, St. John's and DePaul have been to exactly one NCAA Tournament in the past six years and two in the past eight. All those millions from March Madness are off the backs of somebody else. If everybody had said yes to that $1.4 billion TV offer from ESPN in 2011 instead of holding out for more, they'd be going nowhere. Look, Xavier has made seven NCAAs in a row and they've made peanuts compared to the Big East Catholic schools. No wonder Seton Hall's nickname is the Pirates.

Thanks for quoting the guy. Self imposed ban I prefer not breaking. BTW the three schools who voted against the 1.4 billion tv offer were Georgetown, ND and Pitt with the Pitt president the head of the university presidents.. And in less than six months Pitt announced they were going to the ACC. The BE sold their sole letting ND have full membership.

They're hoping Cuse fixes that and they had enough of a bb beat down against UConn for a millennium.
