UConn in the NBA - March version

Interesting what the Grizzlies are doing auditioning PGs to replace Ja. Right now its Clayton's turn. I do think they like Cam coming off the bench

Zack Harper's NBA Stock Report: (Oh, the irony)
"The Blazers are 2-4 since getting back from the break, but their play on both ends of the floor is so much worse than that record would indicate. Their offense is a putrid 102.9 rating, and their 117.0 defensive rating in these six games is about as bad as what Washington is doing. The Blazers are making just 29.3 percent of their 3-pointers in these six games. The only 3-point shooters they can rely on right now are Jerami Grant and Donovan Clingan..."

Clingan’s shooting is confusing and I’ve given up trying to track it

Oct/Nov, around 3 threes per game. 23.5% in Oct and 26.3% in Nov

December, cut back to 2 threes a game. 52.2%!

January, up closer to 4 attempts per game (3.7). 25.0%. Seems to indicate that he should be keeping his attempts lower and more efficient

February, shot even closer to 4 a game (3.9). 46.5% and a career high month for PPG

Only 1 game in March so far, 5 attempts at 40%

I have no clue anymore.

Save yourself the hand-wringing & mental gymnastics.

3pt shooting is volatile. Small sample sizes highlight volatility.

It really can be that simple.

Just because it’s fun to play with numbers (or have a computer do it).

Relevant to Solo Ball this season. Assuming he is a “true” 40% 3pt shooter:

Retro NBA on NBC broadcast for Spurs vs Sixers, Costas/Collins/Fratello on the call. Drummond starting for Embiid and picked up 2 fouls in the first 2 minutes guarding Wemby.

Hawkins posting a story on his Instagram of a summer league highlight from 2023.

Somebody save our boy from NO please.
He certainly needs a new start, but he has been AWFUL for 2 full seasons. It’s not like he just needs a chance to be unleashed.

Spurs are stomping the 76ers. I think Philly tried a zone. You know what they say about giving up offensive rebounds when you play zone?

Castle with 13 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds at halftime. Spurs have 78 points lol

The game has only gotten more out of hand in the third quarter. This San Antonio team rocks.

Also, I’m loving the throwback night. It’s a fun once or twice a year thing.

Not UConn but a CT guy, a few years ago I figured his NBA career was finished, he's had a nice resurgence

Got to thank Kris for us being able to land Drummond

Dunn should've been all defense last season and should probably be 1st team all-defense this season.

He’s always been a monster on that end of the floor. Being a two time conference defensive POY at PG is not common. Thought he should’ve fit right in on that TWolves team and was surprised it didn’t work out.

Good to see him find his feet though.

Going back awhile, I wanted Dunn on UConn badly. I always liked him. I wonder what we could have done for his career.

With UConn having Shabazz and Boatright probably made getting Kris Dunn a non starter, at least for Dunn if he wanted starter minutes.

Yeah Ollie said many times that he didn't really recruit Dunn because they already had Napier and Boatright. And they weren't bad. UConn can't take everyone. 😀
