>>UConn Health, which has run annual losses each year since 2014, began the nationwide search Monday with a solicitation of interest from organizations interested in a partnership for all or part of the $692-million clinical enterprise, which includes the 234-bed John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington and UConn Medical Group, a multi-specialty faculty practice with 420 providers. <<

I wonder if Partners Health (Boston based owner of Mass General, Brigham & Women's that is tied to Harvard Medical)? They basically can't expand in the Boston market any further due to monopoly issues and UConn's footprint in the Hartford area is close enough without overlapping, is relatively affluent and has minimal direct competition (Yale is closet & Harvard would love to stick it to Yale). Partners could also use another medical school (UConn) pipeline as the the other Boston med schools are tied to competing hospital networks. There was talk that Partners looked at Bay State in Springfield a few years back; but, said no.

Partners seems focused on New Hampshire and Rhode Island @ this point but wouldn’t summarily dismiss it / they already have a relationship w/ CoolDick in Northampton MA.

Seems like the for profit hospital chains/VC groups have steered clear previously but with the M&A activity hearing up again who knows which way it will spin.

Until UConn's new president has landed in CT full-time, taken the reins, and had a reasonable period to better understand UConn Health/Medical's challenges, perhaps it's best none of the partnership proposals purportedly met prior defined expectations.

UConn should have never built it's own medical center out in Farmington, way back in the day. I get why it was done; but, the market was even too saturated back then. Instead, UConn should have partnered with Hartford Hospital and formed an alliance that could compete with Yale New Haven versus trying to compete with both.

Just imagine, looking out the windows of the UConn Hartford Health campus to the north where a 65K downtown football stadium painted in the Blue, White and Red of the Pats and Huskies whilr just across from Columbus Boulevard on the otherside of the new UConn Hartford Campus sits a new Civic Center that serves as the part-time home of UConns basketball team and the new NHL Whalers (former Coyotes)...Now, back to my pre-game ritual whenever the Pats are int the Super Bowl, drinking.

Are you proposing to poke them all with a stick, or are you just assuming that the ones who no one has scene in the last 6 months may have passed on?

UConn Health is a trash assets from an M&A perspective. What hospital group wants to play in CT, with the way healthcare is moving? Why would Partners compete with HartfordHealthcare & Trinity Health (Saint Francis)? If anyone it would be Trinity or HCA but I don't see why Trinity needs another CT hospital when they have the other hospital in Hartford.

UConn Health is indeed in a bad spot. If there is a partner out there, it could be another New England network that is trying to fight-off Partners, which owns most of the Boston market, and could also use another Medical school. So, Lifespan in Providence (Bown University), Dartmouth-Hitchcock in New Hampshire, MaineHealth in Portland (U New England), etc. could be options.
