Cool of a young grad to stand up and speak his mind to the BoT, regardless of your position on the topic.

Amen to him for speaking his mind, but the conclusion he came to is a bit premature until all the facts are known. Even the BY appears to be softening from its original death knell claims. Since we haven't heard from the administration, we have no clue what the plan is for football, assuming there is one. I sent the BOT a message yesterday, but I just asked that they delay the vote until all is known and not to make rash political decisions. If we'll be better off financially in the long run with this move, do it. If not, we need to stay where we are.

>>He arose from his seat wearing a No. 15 UConn jersey and his heart on his sleeve. Tom McDougall stepped to the microphone, began to read the words he had spent much of Tuesday constructing, and damn if the young guy didn’t deliver the passion Randy Edsall wished he got from his players every autumn Saturday.

McDougall introduced himself to the UConn board of trustees as an alum, class of ’15, a donor, a 10-year season ticket holder and, most of all, a dedicated UConn football fan there to persuade the trustees not to make a “very short-sighted decision” to approve a move to the Big East. It was an argument, he later admitted, he knew he had zero chance of winning.<<

If football had been at all competitive over the past few years, and attendance remained strong, this never happens. The football program has nobody to blame but themselves IMO. We all had a P5 vision and the football program and fan base didn’t show that we deserve it. I hope we can land on our feet somewhere because going independent isn’t a good idea.

The football program didn’t hire PP and Bob Diaco.
Can we blame the basketball program for Kevin Ollie and empty seats at basketball games or is that the shitt-y aac?

Alright... anyone have Tom McD’s “rant” recorded for posterity?

>>...Only a 2015 UConn grad, Tom McDougall, wearing a UConn football jersey while addressing the board and saying the move will “slit the throat” of the football program and put UConn in “conference purgatory."

Good for McDougall, who effectively screamed despite knowing no one was listening, telling the board it was about to make a “shortsighted decision.” Benedict walked in just as McDougall was hitting full speed with his three-minute rant.<<

Haha, I read the excerpts. @BobDiacosHair killed it. It isn't easy to write something up and speak so passionately and yet so cogently. It's even harder to do it a packed house in front of people who are at best uninterested in your viewpoint. Well done BDH.
