UConn grad assistant Rich Kelly observing Ramadan in solidarity with players: 'Great opportunity for me'

Kelly, in his second season as a graduate assistant for UConn, will be observing the Muslim holy month again this year. He'll join Diarra, Johnson, Youssouf Singare freshman Ahmad Nowell and walk-on Souleymane Daby, UConn's players who will be fasting during daylight hours, beginning Saturday through the end of March.​

"There's definite adversity to it," Kelly noted. "At the same time, it's also really interesting to see the advantages gained. When you're in a fasting state, at times, mental clarity arises.​

​

"The experience really transformed me. Now, I'm looking to get both ends of it: the connection with the guys, but also the connection with myself."​
