Scott M. Roberts Chosen as President and CEO of the UConn Foundation | UConn Alumni

>>The UConn Foundation has named Scott M. Roberts as president and CEO, effective May 28. Roberts is currently the vice president for philanthropy and alumni engagement and president of the UNLV Foundation at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.<<

>>“I was very impressed with Scott’s energy and formidable analytical skills,” Katsouleas said. “He is personable, enthusiastic, and a very strategic thinker who will be highly effective across the board, including one-on-one with donors and in leading a large and complex organization. In Scott, UConn snapped up a rising star in the field of higher education philanthropy before he could be recruited elsewhere. Scott is an ideal choice to lead the UConn Foundation forward, and I am excited to work closely with him and his team.” <<

Jiminy crickets, the guy’s exhibited prior success managing people, ops, relationships, and consequentially raising dinero. Similar to his predecessor, Josh Newton, with an undergrad degree from a school many Connecticut alumni and residents never heard of (Belmont Abbey), and who came from and returned to Emory with a solid fundraising reputation, just maybe Roberts further leverages a Foundation data base, existing team, alumni, corporate, research, institutional, and other unaffiliated contacts while fostering establishing new and building on emerging relationships to raise a few shekels.

Hope for the best. This not the athletic or even academic side of UConn, so 'power' contacts are less imporant that in other areas. One concern I have is the ability of any outsider to be able to wiggle his/her way into the wallets of folks in Fairfield County and the greater NYC area.

Gratefully, the Foundation has sent the vestigial Life Member Calendar 2020 which chose a wide angle in game photo from the top row of Gampel for February titled the "College Basketball Capital of the World" with the pictured crowd at less than 1/2 full.

Who knows? Hope it's a home run. Good luck to Scott.

There's an easy way to keep score. The endowment was at $447 million. Make it grow.

Did a UConn president say "star"? How delicious.
