>>Asked recently about special teams, Edsall said, "We've got a lot of work to do there right now. I wasn't overly pleased with what we saw in spring. The specialists were told they have a lot of work to do over three months, over the summer. Hopefully, they're doing that and when they come back we'll be better.

"In terms of the coverage units and return units, we'll be fine. It's just that we're going to have to have more consistency and better production out of the specialists part of it."<<

Excited to see who will be returning punts and kicks this year. It looks like we have some good candidates, at least on paper.

This comment by Edsall doesn't make me feel good. I'll argue that the kicker is the 2nd most vital player on the team after the QB. We've been spoiled with Teggart and Puyol. There have been some others who made us wince at the end of critical drives. Now it's up to Michael Tarbutt and Will Rishell. Let's hope they're healthy, strong legged, accurate and confident. As for the punting, who was better than Desi Cullen, Cole Wagner and Justin Wain? Now its up to Brett Graham from State College PA to flip the field or drop one inside the 10..
These guys will be the difference in at least four of our games this year. They're critical to our success.

The thing that worries me is that at virtually every position Edsall says "We have lots of work to do." Now I get we were awful last year and I get he is to som extent trying to motivate people but yipes! It could be a long year.

I'm anticipating 3, maybe 4 wins. Not getting my hopes up but want to see actual football played on the field, not Bob Diaco's idea of football. Real football.

Based on the last several seasons and initial observations, HCRE2.0 reconfirms what most people already know. Perhaps he's not only attempting to motivate all players and coaches, but also level setting reasonable expectations for Susie, AD DB, students, alumni and other fans alike while hoping enhanced motivation helps to exceed such expectations. In the latter case, I wishfully expect 12 wins on the way to winning a bowl game. Go UConn! ;)

I liken Edsall's "We have lots of work to do." comment more so as a motivational thing for our current players. He's challenging them in front of us... Instead of "loving" up on us the way the last guy did... That's not saying that we do need to improve as a team on the field. Believe it or not guys, we do have talent on this team... Was it coached well enough to produce in live games the last 3 years? heck no...

Go back to some of Edsall's pressers since he's been back... It's gonna get done his way... He's challenging these kids.. In front of us instead of behind the scenes.. Another tactic in turning boys into men...

Can't wait for camp to start...and, honestly, I feel sorry for the FCS team we open the season against..

My glass half full perspective.
