I was texting with Danny K during the game and he was NOT the UConn fan who tried to cheer during the A'ja Wilson injury.

Just wanted to set the record straight. Danny is nuts, not stupid or insensitive...

For anyone to think for even a nanosecond that our Danny could do such a thing is absolutely asinine, ignorant and unforgivably insulting. The mere suggestion is outrageous.

If I'm not mistaken, that is the guy that wears the hat with the little basketballs on it, is it not? FWIW, it was definitely not him as he was sitting less than 20 feet from me. It sounded like it came from the upper deck, but I'm not certain. It did not come from any UCONN fans sitting directly behind your bench.

I watched the game again today- and heard it! I was and am mortified.
That is as classless a thing I've seen/heard at a sporting event in a long time.
Since Rutgers fans were shouting obscenities at our US Naval Academy football players. That is so embarrassing. What a jerk. Having said that, then the "fan base" gets painted with the broad brush- which is another ridiculous generalization.

Thanks for clarifying where you heard the uconn cheer from. Can you tell me what, if any was the fan reaction when Geno walked into the arena? Met Dawn at center court? Introduced? Just curious. Because when he/we walked into 16,000 fans at Baylor Univ, there was a huge standing ovation when he entered the arena and another one when he met

There was not much of a reaction at all. There are coaches our fans dislike - Matthew Mitchell in WBB and John Calipari and Kevin Stallings in MBB, who get heavy doses of boos, etc. I sit very close to the visiting head coach and Geno rarely even got out of his box last night. I think I only had to tell him to get back in his box once and I told him that Sicily is beautiful the first week in April. ;)

It was a poor decision by a few people and I have heard a few people discuss it today, but every fan base has a few who do things like that. I can't tell you how many times I've had to scold some of our students for crossing the line at MBB games. WBB fans tend to be much more gentile.

Why do you dislike Stallings?

It's one thing about students being immature and stupid. Another about an adult - if it was an adult.
It's funny- we give a big ovation to all of the successful coaches that come into our arenas. Geno has won gold medals and coaches team USA with Dawn.
I thought that there might be even a small ovation for his accomplishments before we tried to beat the heck out of each other. Thanks for indulging me!

I'd also be mortified if a UConn fan deliberately cheered while knowing that an opponents player was hurt. They could have been that classless, but I'm wondering that if they were in the upper deck maybe they didn't realize there was an injury? If they knew, it's totally poor sportsmanship and I'm embarrass as a devoted UConn fan that one of our own would do that. But maybe, just maybe, they were so caught up in the game that they didn't realize what was going on at the time? I hope that was the case.

Why do you dislike Stallings?

I dislike him because he's always out on the court, and in my opinion, interfering with the game. The Coaches' box has become a joke. If a coach is out on the court the whole game and getting in the way, T him up. Calipari does the same thing.

I heard about the unsportsmanlike behavior shown as a player lay injured but don't know any of the specifics. Could you shed any light on exactly what happened? Very glad that Aja was able to continue albeit after the decisive 3rd quarter.

I have no idea if it was a student or not.

That's a nice tradition, but I can only remember us doing that for former players and assistants that have come back as head coaches. I'm glad we will continue to play each other. I hope we start playing ND, too. When we were an independent we had a fierce rivalry with ND (and Marquette) in MBB.

OK, thanks. I certainly think more technicals should be called for out of the box. Calipari, he should get more technicals just because.

A'ja Wilson got hurt, I think it was shortly after halftime, and a few minutes into the time she was being attended to on the court, a UCONN fan started a cheer and "some" of your fans joined in. The action was booed by some and it ended.

I know it's within the rules to sign all these one and done type players, but it just irks me. Our men play LSU at home on Wednesday night for the SEC lead and Kentucky at home on Saturday. This is a pretty big basketball week for us as it's been a long time since we've been relevant in MBB.

A UC fan started a UC cheer while Aja was reeling in pain on the ground- while you could hear a pin drop in the arena.

I meant shortly before, not after halftime. Probably the middle of the second quarter.
