Recording my latest CT Scoreboard Pre Game Preview show today with a Butler beat writer. Any questions you want answered?
Curious about fans as it sounds like they allow 15% capacity? They play well at home it appears and curious if the fans have made a difference.

Seems like they need to rely on a lot of freshmen. How do they look?

Does Butler lack wing depth? (I see smallish guards and a couple front court players. Tough to replace a wing like Sean Mcdermott, who is now in the nba)

This is UConn's first year in the Big East since 2013. How do you feel about their addition to the league?

What surprised you in your scout of them?

Bo Hodges (key transfer, they are high on him) not playing, Scooby Johnson their key recruit tore his ACL, Thompson has been banged up, Christian David (defensive specialist) out with ACL from last yr. They recruited like six 3* guys, Scobby being borderline 4* Aaron Thompson is a floor general(can score if he has to) really good defensively, as he goes they go. Nze has been struggling, has really nice footwork and draws alot of fouls. Bolden is streaky......Tate and Harris, the 2 freshman can get buckets, but they freshman at the end of the day. Butler will be a problem next yr and after that. You guys should win easy, but don't sleep.

Good question. I love that we are back, but we are a bit of an oddball at this point. We are a relatively large state school in a conference filled with potentially small budget private schools. As time passes I could see us becoming a dominant presence and some animosity developing amongst the other schools.

I know I'm not the first one to express skepticism at this meme, but can someone please explain once and for all what in the world a school's size, religious affiliation or funding source have to do with basketball competition?

Large state schools have more resources to draw from to support their programs. Consider our sports facilities versus the rest of the BE by way of example.

I suppose private, religious affiliation and funding source dont necessarily mean anything. Funding size probably does and I suspect Butler, Seton Hall, St John's, Providence, Gtown, Creighton, Marquette. Etc.. all have relatively small basketball budgets. Smaller than ours.

I guess I picked a bad time to ask this question. Of course a school that is willing and able to spend more money on its basketball program has an advantage. To the extent anyone is asserting that point of view, I agree.

People on this board, however, are frequently bringing up these factors (religious affiliation, population density on and around campus, etc.) to describe how team A does not "fit" in a conference with team B. It is that line of thinking that I am questioning.

By the way, I am not saying that I think that line of thinking is wrong. I simply don't see it.

I am not so sure people are. Keep in mind that these schools were referred to as the Catholic 7 when they left. I think the real emphasis is size of the school and lack of state backing.

Any explanation behind Jordan Tucker's decision to go pro when he really had a great opportunity for playing time this year? Not sure if he signed as a FA but he could have added some wing depth. Thanks.

What's their memory of our 2011 match up? Do they view this as some sort of payback game?

Their Senior Associate AD is named Mike Freeman and I used to do business with his wife Melody. Trust me when I say they have not forgotten that game (or their 2010 loss to the another team we don't lose to in Final 4 games) They also realize that beating us Saturday would never make up for it. There will be a little extra juice on their end, no doubt. That being said, I'd be surprised if we don't add another painful memory on Saturday.

Cool. I hope we win, but I've become less selfish as I've gotten older. I hope they get to exorcise those demons someday.....just not tomorrow.
