UCONN brand | The Boneyard

UCONN brand

They've been needing good hoops for 50 years.
Their women's team was pretty decent for a long time. Really fell off last 8 years. Thought the men's team started to turn it around when they won NIT five years ago with Tony Carr, but nothing came of that.

Nice to be part of these conversations again. I missed them

I get a good hyper-local measure of the brand strength here in lower Fairfield County when I am simply out doing errands or at social events. Five years ago, no one in Stop & Shop or Trader Joe’s wore UConn gear. Friends didn’t have any interest in talking UConn hoops at gatherings. The racks at Bob’s in Norwalk were full of marked down UConn and Jets gear. I am already seeing signs of a reversal. And I love it.

The same amount of states care about wrestling as water polo
Not true at all, Wrestling is big in the Midwest and on the east coast in states like New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Sure it will never be a popular sport and it’s unwatchable to the general sports fan, it’s one of those sports where you had to have wrestled or at least been around it to watch it.
