UConn Bench Players Shoutouts

Sophomore year Ricky was mostly plagued by his shoulder issues and suspension, or am I misremembering?
Yes, that damn shoulder was always a problem. That being said, he was so disappointing as our PG that it necessitated bringing in someone else. Khalid took us from being a good team to a champion. He was legit the perfect player and personality for that team.

There were in fact repercussions just not in game. Right before the 1991 tournament the NCAA in their wishy washy ways suspended Sellers for the first tournament game. 8/9 vs Nebraska which UConn won handily. We, the NCAA had to take action they said.
And how many times has the NCAA sat a guy the following year for a prior year infraction? I think I only remember once and that was years after.

Trivia Alert! Nebraska has still never won an NCAA game.

I haven't read through the entire thread but was wondering when Joey Buckets aka Joey California was going to come up.

I have a little bit of a hard time including players who eventually ended up starters in this conversation, but Joey, granted only a one-year eligible transfer, was one of my favorite off the Bench contributors.

The player that was the first "make something happen" off the Bench player was John Gwynn aka The Microwave. Keep in mind that I started following the Huskies for the first time in the late 80s, so there might be some old old timers that preceded him as an instant offense sub. For those who remember him, once the ball touched his hands the ball was either instantly heading towards the rim , or he was dribbling to a spot where the ball would be shortly heading towards the rim. His assist average was probably one of the worst in UConn history.
