UConn coming up short on offensive glass

The Huskies are one of the worst offensive rebounding teams in the country though their first four games.

Through a month of the season, no team in the country has shot the ball as well as UConn. The Huskies are hitting 53.0 percent from the floor and own a true field goal percentage (which accounts for the value of a 3-pointer) of 59.3 percent — both of which lead the nation.

Not often can we see a team's weakness as clearly as our Rebounding. Focusing on that weakness will make us improve alot. Also opens up opportunities for our bench posts to earn minutes if they can become animals on the glass.

There is always an emphasis on Defense on the BY. Offense wins games. Uconn, many forget, won all of its NC's with terrific offensive players. Having said that, Olivia and Dorka, throw in Edwards and the talent is there to score well. Against bulky players with equal heights, Uconn loses offense. Christyn Williams, CW, has been all she can be this year so far. Paige is Paige nothing to be said about her you haven't said. SIZE high and wide is what Uconn needs, they are loaded with talent.

Offense does not win games by itself. Offense AND defense together is what wins games. What good is it to score 100 pts per game if you give up 101?

Rebounding is relative to both offense and defense. If you are losing the rebounding battle, you are giving the other team more opportunities to score and losing opportunities to score yourself.

I'm gonna use Massey's Top Ten rankings because it lists offensive and defensive rankings. (despite my misgivings about the algorithm MOV use) Notice that the vast majority of the top ten have good defensive rankings.

Two Loss Maryland may not be a bad team but look what it means to have the number one offense.
