We took 2 of 3 from Tulane in New Orleans back @ end of March. 6-0, 1-5, 5-3

I feel like we're the second best team in our side of the bracket, which is good. Have to take the first two, and then anything can happen.

One major key will be remaining in the winner's bracket as long as possible as among other things, the additional game(s) required from fighting out of the loser's bracket will deplete our pitching staff.

We have demonstrated that we can hang with any team in this conference (five, perhaps six other schools can say the same thing) but hanging with a team does not necessarily equate to beating them (we've proven that quite a bit this season). What we need to do is avoid giving away outs (by eliminating base running blunders), giving extra outs (with shoddy fielding) and not capitalizing on scoring opportunities.

If we can play smarter and more fundamentally sound than we have most of this season, we can do some damage in this tournament.

The big thing is avoiding playing Friday. To do that UConn has to win the Wednesday and Thursday games that Cross and Kay will start. If a team does not lose a game they can win the AAC championship playing in as few as four games. If a team loses on Wednesday or Thursday they will have to play six games to win the championship. So the Wednesday and Thursday games are quite important.

Wow... Zapata. Interesting strategy. Save Cross and Kay for later.

The Vandy coach is actually using the same strategy today to keep his regular starters on their normal schedule. We unfortunately do not have the same comfort of knowing we are in the tourney already like them. The opposite of this is if you pitch Cross today and then make the Championship game Sunday you could potentially bring back Cross on 3 days rest. Can't do that now.

By the way not really agreeing with this decision but then again I hardly do with Penders. Its a tough position to put Zapata into and we need to win now and worry about games on Saturday and Sunday and who will pitch when and if we get there. Hopefully Zapata was just told and hasn't had enough lead notice to have his nerves building. Hope the kid comes through because it would work out nice but it is a big gamble.

Top 2, UCONN ties the game at 1 after a Daniello fly ball glances off of the Tulane RF's glove. Looks like we aren't the only team who makes dumb plays in the field.

Tulane's 3B has a ridiculous glove. Saved at least 3 runs today.
