Have we ever had to sweat one out on selection Sunday? 2012 being a 9 seed is the closest I can remember. Any historians out there please chime in.

2001 we were a bubble team. I remember watching the selection show seeing other Big East teams getting low seeds and it sinking in that we weren't making it

Among the many memorable close calls over the years, Taliek's missed free throws at the end of the Seton Hall game sunk us that year.

2015 we played our way into the “next four out” following a semi-final win over Tulsa in Hartford. This was followed by a painfully slow death to SMU in the ship, with Boatright playing with one arm late in the game.
My recollection was that it was pretty clear that the only way our resume would be at-large worthy required beating SMU, in which case it was moot anyway.

We were an 11 when we blitzed LSU and Xavier in Smitty's Jr. year. Duke then whooped up on us in the Sweet 16.
But that Duke game gave us this...

I forgot our record in 2020 but we were hot and ready to win the big East tournament. I don’t remember if we needed to or not.

They AAC wasn't good so the resume was meh. Pretty light on Q1 wins. Kenpom 52, NET 60 and 19-12 with a bad record away from home and that awful awful St. Joe's loss (NET 240...so Q4). They'd have probably needed to make the AAC finals or (more likely) win it. Most sites projected us as a fringe bubble team, though if they got that St. Joe's game and one of the OT games they lost (2OT N-Xavier, 2OT Wichita State, OT Tulsa, 2OT @ Temple) they'd probably be a play-in team.

They were on a roll, though, so I could imagine them stringing off enough wins to make it that year. Damn COVID. Vital deserved NCAAT game or another year.

Never understood the big deal about this with the NCAA. I'm sure Sellers simply thought Laettner's head was the basketball as he bounced it off the floor repeatedly.
They didn't even call a foul on him. Another example of an egregious retroactive penalty only to us.

Was that season one of our biggest disappointments? We started out preseason 4 if I recall

And even that 2012 wasn't on the bubble so to speak. They were safely in the NCAAT even though they didn't do much besides get beaten soundly by Iowa State.

Even though there were way more important life issues due to COVID, this is as sports fan will always be the great what if. I really wanted a NCAAT, or hell, even a NIT for Christian Vital. That guy produced a lot of blood, sweat, and tears for UConn.

The 2009-10, 17-15 season where they beat #1 Texas and a top 10 Nova and wvirginia. They were 17-11 after those two and lost their last 4. They lost to lville to drop to 17 and 12 which crushed the season. Had they made it to 18-11 I think splitting the last two games and getting a win in the BET would have gotten them in at 20-13

I'm not certain, but if Adams doesn't hit a 3/4 court shot at the buzzer vs Cinci in the 2016 AAC Tournament. We were on the bubble

We went on to win the tournament, thus clinching a spot

We finished 33 in the RPI, and that was after that Cinci win and and at least one other win in the tournament. May even include a 1st rnd win over Colorado

Considering we would pride ourselves on peaking at the end of the year, that team's complete face plant at the end of the season was shocking. A total no-show down the stretch. Calhoun benched everyone at South Florida. Ugly

The season Covid cancelled we were squarely on the bubble headed into the conference tournament if I recall.
We were one of the hottest teams in the country at that point. No one wanted a piece. CV would have been even Higher up the legendary echelon if we got to 16.
