After hosting Central Connecticut State Aug. 29 for the Huskies' season opener, Rentschler Field will give local leagues the chance to host their own private fantasy football drafts from the UConn stadium's luxury suites the following afternoon. The experience, which is offered for $75 per person, also includes a premium guided tour and food options.
The five-hour, inaugural event is scheduled just in time for the NFL regular season, which kicks off a few days later in Philadelphia Sept. 4. Fans may enter the Rentschler Field parking lot at 11 a.m., with an hour allotted for tailgating, before a round of guided tours, which include photo opportunities on the field and in the newly renovated locker rooms, will begin around noon.
Pizza, wings and soft drinks will be offered as part of suite rental, and the name of each participating fantasy league will be displayed on the Rentschler Field scoreboard — that is, so long as the league names are appropriate, organizers warned. Alcohol will be available as an additional purchase in the suites.
The deadline to sign up for the draft night experience is Aug. 25, with event organizers setting a 10-person minimum. For more information, contact Kent Ahern at 860-486-8190 or kent.ahern@uconn.edu.
