Sio did get invite to East/West shrine game. Maybe he hasn't officially announced yet because hes hoping others back out of senior bowl due to injury or whatever and he gets invite there.

So by that account, UConn should have been in the Top 15 at least. I didn't see it anywhere, but which one of these games is Paul Pasqualoni head-coaching?

We had one player on offense last year who many would consider an above average college talent. That was our tight end. The rest of the O had average to mediocre talent.

Defense is another story. There was above average talent everywhere.

i dont get this. i must be missing it. edsall went thru multiple qbs and had a lb playing the position for him right? meanwhile we brought in a juco qb. what am i missing? 1st year here P had a qb issue. jmac was a quality walkon and my hats off to him but hes not a answer to a qb issue. fine, P got a pass from most here including me. 2nd year he bring in a juco. raw? yes but potential was there. with the pieces he had round him he could have done more if the right coach was calling plays and set him up for sucess. gdl set him up for failure after failure. i don't think edsall would do that. i didn't like RE for my own reasons, but i know hes got it togetehr on the field all day long. he gets this team this year 8+ wins. i'll give blaw that. but its a moot point as he left us, we didn't fire the guy. any capable coach with a oc younger than 85 gets us to 8 wins this year. i know a couple posters here who could have coached us to 8 wins for christ sake....

You think with the right coach Frank becomes Sherman? Have you seen either player in action. Sherman was a tank (pun intended) on specials, blocking, and was a tremendous receiver. But you think with coaching Frank becomes Sherman?? Okay . . .

How do you know Whitmer develops more? In what area would he improve?

I think McCombs is better with the other blocking scheme.

How are Davis and Phillips above average with better coaching? A good coach gets receivers not to drop the ball?

a good staff gets uconn the following
1) a new dam playbook and scheme
2) that means the blocking changes
2a)we rush for more yards with lyle
2b)qb has more time to throw
2c) wr's get more time to seperate
2d)we actually teach a fb how to block and pick up a blitz instead of telling him stand here and watch for szombies coming in your zone
3)the best players play
4) energy level is dramatically different

on offense, I never felt we had a scheme this year, it seemed to be a dysfunctional stack of plays inserted each week to gimmick the opposing defense and to occasionally wildcat for negative yards.

and still pissed about that FB bullfight blocking.

I said in several game threads that I liked Deleone's main offensive philosophy, or what I thought was his offensive philosophy. Play action, utilize the short to intermediate throws, and get the tight ends involved. That is all he needed to do to get this team to a bowl game last year. But like a stubborn mule, he refused. had to show everyone all the different nuances he can run. And he did, with horrific results. Forget the trickery, forget the wildcat. Have the team practice the core offense 1,000,000 times to get execution down.

He needs to keep it simple. You can create mismatches in the short game, look at the Patriots.

With that said I have no confidence at all anything will change.

a good staff gets uconn the following
1) a new dam playbook and scheme - Yes is does. Obviously. Doesn't change the talent on offense.
2) that means the blocking changes - Possibly yes.
2a)we rush for more yards with lyle - Don't see how we couldn't. Not sure how that gets us to more wins.
2b)qb has more time to throw - Line was horrific when asked to pass block one on one. Complete whiffs. That was not scheme.
2c) wr's get more time to seperate - When given time, receivers had a lot of trouble getting separation. Not sure how this changes.
2d)we actually teach a fb how to block and pick up a blitz instead of telling him stand here and watch for szombies coming in your zone - I am sure the coaches taught him to stand there.
3)the best players play - Coaches play the players they feel are the best players. That is what coaches get paid to do. Please tell me you are insinuating that the current regime knows there are better players, yet sits them anyway. Or is it because you see a starter is not playing well and assume the player behind him is better? Right .. .
4) energy level is dramatically different - That is insulting to the players. Players take pride in their game, if anyone does not give 100%, I hope they decide to do everyone a favor and leave the program.

I heard East-West Shrine game? Not positive but it makes sense.
My son is training with him in Fla. so I will advise if I find out for sure.

Sio should have went to the Senior Bowl over Blidi IMO, he had a much better year, but I'm happy for both.

That's what he was hoping for but is still pumped up for E/W. He is in full beast mode training for the game and combine.

I saw today on ESPN that Todd McShay has Blidi as the 4th highest rated CB in this draft.

I think that's even higher than Darius.
