UConn said in a statement that it's clear this fall's freshmen in Storrs will be "among the most academically talented and most ethnically and geographically diverse classes in UConn's history."
36,000 Applications
Nearly 36,000 might-be Huskies, who scored slightly higher on SATs and came from all 50 states and 109 countries, applied.
That's a 62 percent increase over the 22,000 applications received in 2010 and almost a doubling of applications since 2005 when the number was 18,608. It's also about 1,000 more applicants than last year."
