UConn -7.5 | The Boneyard

UConn -7.5

16 of the top 25 lost this week.

Only our fan base expects to not lose. We’re kind of spoiled.
Those other team's losses are independent of our loss.

Most of us, myself included, were very happy with our Nova loss. We don't expect to win them all.

Late January, loss at home to an unranked Creighton team. do you have a more disappointing loss this year?

Colorado, Dayton, Villanova are all worse losses than this. Creighton is the best team of the 5 losses we have

I meant in terms of our teams progress, not Quads, or kenpom, which i don't really follow. I really hope liams return is the panacea.

I wasn't talking quads or anything, this loss was less painful than those other 3. Creighton is a really good team so yesterday's loss was almost expected for me

You have low expectations then. They were favored by 7.5. It's at home in Gampel. Creighton is O.K. but not great. I expected a tough game but no way should the Huskies lose that game.

Sure we should have won, but Creighton is a very good team. Since the McNeeley injury Creighton is 23rd on Bart Torvik, UConn is 61st. Yesterday's loss is nowhere near our worst of the season

You have unrealistic expectations. Without McNeeley this was one of the games I thought would be tough. It’s a CBB team . They lose games. Every loss is not a “bad loss”. Especially in conference to a probable tournament team. Without McNeeley UConn is ok but not great. Going into this game what gave you any confidence that UConn “should” win this game? Could? Sure. Should is a bit further than I’m willing to go with this group sans McNeeley against a program whose had our number.

Expecting UConn to beat Creighton in Gampel is not "unrealistic expectations". They were favored by 7.5. ESPN predictor gave them a 75% chance to win. So most people thought there was a pretty good chance UConn would win. If I said before yesterday's game I expect this team to win the national championship then I'd say I had unreal expectations.

Definitely not close to the worst loss of the season. Unless we lose to Seton Hall I think the worst loss of the season will be reserved for Colorado.

Hard to evaluate the quality of this loss without McNeeley. I agree this was the best team we’ve lost to, but it was at home and later in the season when quality of play is more important. Kalk is a unique matchup (that played out) and McDermott is easily the best coach we’ve lost to.

The machines and line aren’t a reliable way to evaluate a loss. All that matters at this point is McNeeley comes back healthy and we pick up where we left off with him on the floor. This team has no potential to do anything without him anyway. The kid is our best player.

If this was an “expected win” I’d encourage you to go through our BE schedule and see how many wins would qualify under your criteria. This team was not winning 17-18 BE games. Any game against Creighton should not be viewed as an expected win. Winnable game? Sure. Anything other means you haven’t actually watched these 2 teams play recently. Which I’m sure you have.

Also as for the spread, just look in this thread. Anyone reasonable thought the spread was shockingly high. Not many thought this was an “expected” win
