Also, Mel Brown replaced him as our primary kick off returner. BTW, both our punt returner and Kickoff returner had very nice years for us. It been a long while since both positions were productive.
I don’t recall Sheffield mishandling any punts.

Only when one our players ran into him like in the Maryland game and I think one other game later in the season.

Was he unlikely to play in the bowl game? Unless a guy is a 1st or 2nd round draft pick and risking injury, I don't get guys sitting out or portaling before a bowl game.

Mora is such a a classy guy. Not sure how many other FBS coaches post about their guys who enter the portal and basically help advertise for them. Really cool move by him and of the things that he does that I really like. Great representative for this university.

1. so far no names I recognize are in the portal. hoping it stays that way, but nice so far.
2. i believe Mora is playing chess with the portal. he knows departures are an inevitability, and so i think he's embracing UConn's unique/awkward position in the FBS landscape. Any good player who was going to star for us and decides to transfer up, is being shown that he will be invested in, regardless of what he decides to do, if/when he has his breakout year with us. I realize these transfers above aren't that scenario, but i'm thinking JM's behavior sets us up to grab more Joly or Marion-types who are under the radar, build them up, and then release them to greener pastures if they want to go.

It’ll get increasingly interesting

1. Now - guys who were not playing a ton and would rather get started on finding a school for Jan than travel to bowl

2. After bowl

3. After spring practice.

Here's my question. Are they still eligible to play in the bowl game? That would make sense as to some of moras comments.

Is Sims somebody mora wouldn't want to lose? Sounds like a strange comment on his end. Would seem like others are looking at moving down in the world

Edit: players would rather move now as it gets them into their new schools by January and spring practice sooner than later

Sims is the only name I recognize. Don't like losing him, but that's college ball in 2024.

I am also confused by this messaging. Can they play in the bowl games? Mora's comments make it seem like yes which is very strange to me.
