I am a little surprised at Summers' ranking. After his soph season I would have agreed. Last year, he was decent, but got exposed at times in man coverage (ex Cuse). I think he can turn it around and be a shutdown corner again this year but he has some work to do.

Remember all those highlights of Melinfonwu getting burned?

NFL teams know enough about talent to separate skill from scheme. Seems like even NFL teams can weed through the disasterous soft defensive schemes UConn played to see talent.

Before his senior year, Obi was legit inconsistent. He took bad angles at times, then made it up with a great play on the next series. He continued that for the first couple of games, and then he became consistent good to very good against the run and pass. There was a play against UVA where he forced up from the second level on a sweep. He looked like a heat-seeking missile taking out the RB on the play. Soph season for Summers was better than any of Obi's 4 years (his senior year is arguable), teams were afraid to test him and when they did they got burned. I think he can be dynamite again, but last year was definitely a step back.

I’ll be mildly stunned if we have more than one draft pick from this squad. Yes Fatusaki will be drafted, but Summers- really? I think Summers is more top choice for free agent signing along with junior Joseph and then possibly Myers. All of them will need to perform like Uconn players used to do on pro day and show well in the gym.

That’s assuming obi was worthy of a second pick. There is nothing in his skill set, aside from an insane combine, that indicated he would be a solid nfl starter.

What I remember most about Jamar Summers was him getting torched by Mizzou this year. Giving a 10 yard cushion, still getting beat on deep routes, not turning his head, the ball almost hitting him in the helmet as the WR catches it for a TD. Multiple times. Then, late in the game when we were down by more than 3 scores, he finally DID turn his head around and intercepted a ball. After getting pushed out of bounds by the intended WR, he threw the ball at his back and yapped, and after getting to the Husky sideline, RE sent him to the locker room and I think held him out of the 1st half the next week.

I wish him luck, but 10th best CB in the country? Was he the 10th best CB in the AAC?

By a country mile. In the right system, I think he'll be a legit NFL player.
He's a very good 4-3 DT prospect. His size(6'4 303) and style reminds me a bit of Fred Robbins (6'4 313). Not a pass-rush or run-stopping specialist, but a good, solid all-around 4-3 DT. As the previous poster stated, he could even be a 3-4 DE. I don't think Fatukasi is limited by any type of system.

AK may get some interest as a slot WR. He would be a very tough cover for a 3rd CB or safety. Most likely as an UDFA. But someone would be wise to have him run WR drills at UConn's pro day.

The only other player drafted would be Rutherford by the CFL. I don't think anyone else will be drafted besides Foley who could go as high as the third round unless he blows up at the combine which I believe he will be going too.

I don't see Newsome being drafted. I think his NFL future depends on his Pro Day 40-time more then anything else. He could carve out a nice career in the CFL, if things don't work out.

I don’t think he will be drafted either, unless a team sees him as a return guy and uses a 7th rounder on him. But I definitely see him invited to a camp and if he can show he can return kicks and possible contribute as a receiver out of the backfield you never know.
