UConn -16.5 vs. Providence

.-.
At this point Vegas is trolling with these point spreads, they make zero sense
Yeah, cuz Vegas makes point spreads only for UConn fans.

They have to be losing their shirts on UConn. We are now 2-10 at home ATS. It’s the closest thing to an auto bet you can find.

.-.
Not to belabor a point, but this still doesn't make any sense. If the game was decided by a bucket and you thought, because you know your team well, that they won't cover 10+ point spreads, then indeed your knowledge of your team helped you win a bet by betting the other team would cover the 10 points.

That's your Nova example, that can be your first Providence game example, that can be the Georgetown game example.

Okay. Let me approach it from a different angle then.

One poster here feels they have an advantage because they know the team and they took UConn to cover because they’re due for a blowout.

The next poster that feels the same advantage because they know the team and takes the points.

Before the game is played, which poster has the advantage they believe they have?

It would be nice to start murdering mediocre teams, imo
As a team they are mediocre by definition. But as individuals they have a lot of talent. I don’t think anyone wants to go one on one against Sellers. If, and that’s a big if, they can get on the same page as a team, then they will be a tough out. At this point they’d have to win the BET to get into the NCAA, but (Ok shoot me) I’d like to see it just to see how they would do in the big dance.

None of them are getting any coaching. I would gladly take Vaaks, Jones, and Oswin.
Vaaks and Jones, yes. Oswin would get about 5 minutes per game because that’s how fast he would foul out if he played for us.

You're right. In that example it's not possible that both bettors actually have an edge.

But that doesn't rule out the possibility that one of them does, regardless of your not knowing which one it is (if either).

The only "edge" appears when the guy who "flipped the coin right" and in retrospect wins his bet.

No one here on this board wins over a 52-53% clip betting UConn over time. No one.

I don't because I emotionally hedge constantly, to my (monetary) detriment.
