I took Butler at +13 this morning. There are no gimme blowouts in the Big East, especially without McNeeley, even at home.

It's possible we shoot lights out and go up like 45-27 at half and cruise from there, but I wouldn't consider it the expected outcome.

More specifically, what's our record against the spread when favored by roughly this amount? Not the tossup games, not the cupcake games.

We've played 9 games when favored by between 7 and 15.

We failed to cover (and lost outright) all 3 games in Maui.
We failed to cover vs. Xavier (won by 5, favored by 13.5).
We failed to cover at Butler (won by 4, favored by 8.5).
We covered against DePaul (won by 13, favored by 11.5).
We failed to cover against Providence (won by 3, favored by 14.5).
We failed to cover against Creighton (lost outright, favored by 7.5).

If you expand it a bit, we were favored by 5.5 against Georgetown and covered (won by 8).

But that is a really bad record (against the spread) in games where we're a moderate to large favorite. And the times we covered were pretty close, while the times we failed to cover were often not close at all.
