Can anyone here tell me how many number one recruiting classes the Lady Huskies had and what years did they occur?

Would also love to know the same for the number of times they landed the #2 recruiting Class..

Just as a guess #1 classes 1998 TASS, 2002 Ann, Barb, Willnett, and Nicole, 2008 Tiff, Caroline, Heather, EDD*, 2012 for #1 classes - with EDD leaving 2008 would have fallen down a bit. And 2012 might not have ended up as #1 because a couple of schools had 5 or 6 recruits and the ranking is often volume over talent.

According to ESPN these are the most current number one recruiting class rankings:

2016 MARYLAND
2015 DUKE
2014 UCLA
2013 NORTH CAROLINA
2012 UCONN
Not sure if this helps

More important than #1 class is #1 recruit: 1998, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008*, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2016 (Crystal I believe was named POY by one organization)

Prior to 1998 I am not sure - Lobo probably.

I think 2012 still counted because the three recruits were all top five or six nationally, so quality reigned above quantity.

What about 2010: Samarie Walker, Bria Hartley, Stefanie Dolson, Michala Johnson & Lauren Engeln? any Idea if that was a number 1 0r 2 Recruiting year?

Thanks I did find that database but as you can see it does not go back very far, hence why I was asking on here in hopes of attaining the missing years :)

Welcome to The Boneyard Bajan Best. Interesting topic for the thread. I'll be interested in seeing this information also. Hope you enjoy your time here.

A quick tip for you though, there are no "Lady Huskies" at UConn. That term used here is likely to raise the ire of a few of the faithful. Beware!

Are you a Tennessee fan? Just curious. They often make the assumption that all female college athletes are "Lady" somethings. ;)

My pre-1998 history is pretty sketchy, and importantly there was much less attention paid to HS recruiting on the women's side and fewer people doing the ratings as well as many fewer really serious WCBB teams doing the recruiting. Thanks for the reminder about Sales - i wasn't sure if she was #1 in 1995 or just 'highly rated'.

2015 was very highly rated but I think it was not #1 because of volume recruits elsewhere. Same with 2014.

I can recall Hoopgurlz commentary on giving UConn the 2012 top spot in team recruiting. They wrote that if one school gets the two best players in the country, then they have the best recruiting class, regardless of anything else. Breanna and Moriah were 1st and 2nd in HS, college, and as WNBA rookies. And I believe soon-to-be Olympic teammates.

For 2012 UCONN was the #1 recruiting class, that has been confirmed.
They were ahead of Texas A&M, Rutgers, Notre Dame & Tennessee..

I don't believe Nakesha Sales was the overall #1 recruit when she left HS, I think she was awarded USA Today POY though..
