As the season approaches, I find myself wondering what Kneepkens and Leger-Walker will bring to the team. I don't know as much about the latter as I ought, and she mainly strikes me as someone in the mold of TVO at USC, someone who could be an important piece of a team but not really carry the team far. And this may be exactly what Cori needs from her, to be a muscular backup PG, a solid defender, and a viable scoring option as a backup SG. Kneepkens is a different sort of player entirely. She's coming off a great last season at Utah, albeit in the weakest of the P4 conferences. She hit a season high in scoring, shot the proverbial 50-40-90, rebounded well from the SG position and wasn't at all a defensive liability. Her offense was peaking and her defense was passable. At UCLA, her offense is likely all that will matter, given all the rim protectors Cori has behind her. What ever Londynn was last season, Gianna is better. She may even eat into Gardiner's minutes and give Cori a dynamic smaller lineup. The one question I have is whether she'll get enough shot opportunities. Last season she averaged 19 pts on 12 fg attempts, which is pretty impressive. But 12 attempts may be hard to come by this season. If she's a starter, then you could have a lineup like Kiki Lauren Gianna Angela and Gabriela, and Gianna simply soaks up Londynn's 25 mpg her FGAs will be fine. But there are other significant options competing for that time.
