The decline of Harbaugh’s status has been protracted and bizarre — much like the contract imbroglio that finally ended after months and months of speculation when he signed a new five-year deal Friday that nearly halved his base compensation and slashed Michigan’s buyout costs.
Several thoughts:
1. WM may have actually learned something about buyout clauses from his mistakes here;
2. Harbaugh must not be very confident about finding another high profile job anytime soon;
3. WM couldn't come up with any former Michigan players who did well in the NFL and want to coach in college.

4) who are you going to get that’s better?

I believe he’s top 10 in wins since he got there.

He’s a correct spot (a Vinny Testeverde helmet-Esque bad spot) from making the cfp in 2016.

The Biggest issue is that right now 50% of the top 100 guys go to 5 schools, leaving him in a tough spot to make the cfp, and he hasn’t found any decent QB play.

I understand, he's better than Brady Hoke, but all that means nothing if he can't beat The Ohio State University.

I think what we're seeing here is another example of WM not being prepared or able to take proactive steps. He's got a head coach who (besides 2020) has had a good record but hasn't shown he's capable of winning the big games. That will be fine for WM's longevity but over the next few years if Harbaugh continues to lose to OSU he'll be gone, WM will be gone, or maybe both will be gone.

I understand the sentiment. But again. 50% of the very top talent went to 5 schools this year. It’s very hard to compete with that when you sit in the same division as one of them.

If like an urban Meyer was going to go there, sure. But are you gambling on Like Fickel when JH has already been on the precipice (and really won) before?
