Anybody run a tuner scan from the Rent lot with a moderate antenna? Wondering if the Oregon game on ABC might be an option with a USB Tuner on my laptop. Tuner works fine usually and I could easily mount a small footprint antenna a few feet above the roofline with a stereo plug to the car audio. Just wondering.

For some reason I always read Jimdish and think of a guy with Direct TV at his tailgate.

If you're talking about pulling in signals with laptops, antenna and tin foil I'd PM Butch.

Thanks but I'm a relative newbie at setting up early and my DTV stays home. I do however use an antenna in my (attic) setup at home because the FFC DMA is NYC. Therefore no CT locals unless you lie or go OTA (antenna). Just got a small one that tests really well but haven't mounted it to anything so it sits in the basement waiting for me to get off my ass and on the roof. If you're unfamiliar with USB tuners they do work.

You should get all the network stations in HD fom the lots with a regular $10 rabbit ears type antenna. Let me know if you have any other questions about this.

This. I've done it. All your typical Hartford/New Haven locals.

I'm a self proclaimed idiot when it comes to technology, Jim

I've had Comcast at home for years because they were the only option where I live in FFld Cty. I true Monopoly as far as non-satellite is concerned.

I have two home phone lines with them, high speed internet and 6 TV's with all the movie channels that I never really watch. Anyhow, I open this month's bill and it's $403 and change. It seems I was on some sort of promotion that ran out and my bill is now almost $70/month more. I decide to call ATT U-Verse who has been canvasing my area with mailers and door to door reps.

I listened to their pitch and am making the switch, not only because I'll be paying almost $160 less, but because they offer many more features than Comcast.

One of those features is the main cable box is wireless, meaning I can take it outside to the patio or pool without cables. I'm not sure what the range is on the thing, does anyone know its limits and if you could tailgate with it?

You cannot tailgate with it. I have UVerse and a wireless receiver. It is connected (wirelessly) to a small router type device that comes off the main box in your house. It is only wireless from that access point. Great for putting a TV on the patio though.

UVerse blows Comcast away for TV service, but you may want to consider keeping Comcast Internet. Cable is better than DSL.

Also planning on doing something like this. Anyone know if you can get wireless service for a laptop in the blue lot? Thinking of putting an inverter to power the TV, then just running an HDMI to the TV from the computer. Thoughts?

Thanks Geeksquad. Only variable is how much brightness I can get from the laptop panel. Might run the scan from home first in media center and just bring an extra battery. Should easily last till gametime.

IF you are doing it for this weekend, you may not need to. UCLA/Nebraska at noon (on ABC), Texas A&M/Bama will be on CBS at 3:30 and Oregon/Tennessee will be at 3:30 on ABC.

In general, no, there is no WiFi available. Best bet is to tether a phone with a 4g connection.

Granted, I haven't tried it in some years, but my 2007 MacBook wasn't nearly bright enough to be watchable. Huge battery hog too. So, I wish you better luck.

putting the laptop inside your car (ie out the trunk or tailgate) should help.

Newer screens are also better

Thanks for the insite, this is more for nesxt week's tailgate - I'm in a bind this weekend.

Haven't not been at a home game since The Rent opened, but one of my good friends, who is also going to be in my wedding next year is getting married tomorrow. His ceremony is at 5, reception begins at 6 (thanks UCONN for moving the start time.....). And also thanks idiots for scheduling weddings during football season..

I'm definitely going to be at the wedding through dinner, debating what to do from there. Either bolt early and get to the game for the 2nd half, or stay at the wedding and watch the entire game when I get home after the wedding. Wedding is right over the bridge in downtown at the old state house and reception at the Bond Ballroom. Literally a 5 minute drive the stadium.

Fiance is on board for bringing a change of clothes and hitting up the game. Decisions decisions..

Do you think that massive percentages of AT&T customers dumped their phone service is the late 90s for the cable operators because the cable company was worse than AT&T?

People were fed up with the only thing that AT&T is known for. Shytty customer service.

Many people don't. It's like saying that you have never had an issue while flying Delta, however they are one of the most hated airlines.

I don't trust DSL is all... I am close enough to the local hub that ATT is usable, but I am watching for cable deals and may switch back.

I have Uverse for tv and Comcast for Internet. Comcast is far superior to ATT on the internet side (again, cable > DSL)
