More will, it's obvious some players will choose to compete and prove themselves instead of going to the unknown situation.Yes, I'm glad...I hope a few more will return...
For Tucker’s sake, I hope that Candle is a coach that will fairly assess and then play the best guy. Tucker’s loyalty is appreciated and I’d like the staff to reciprocate by treating him as one of their own. Based on Candle’s personality and reputation, I think he has the humility to do that. That said, Osborne looks good to me based on Toledo’s bowl game. I really have no idea what Tucker can do.
It happens a lot. Remember Marcus Easley? How about Evers and Fagnano? It happens because coaches are human and they instinctively want to give “their guys” a chance. It isn’t a big deal, but as a player I’d certainly want the coach to commit to me as much as I committed to him.Why do folks question whether coaches play the best players. Have you ever played competitive sports above the youth level?
Of course, but I'm curious. Why is your default to assume there won't be?There needs to be a meeting of the minds there. Sometimes that never happens and relationships sour quick.
I don't know if it's that so much, as coaches are human and sometimes they make the wrong choice. I can see why Nick would seem like the more attractive choice prior to injury. Joe had just come off a shaky season and Evers seemed faster and had more zip on his throws. As it turned out, Joe's decision-making continued to improve where he ended up being a very good field general for us. Sometimes coaches make the wrong call, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they did it for the wrong reasons. It happens a lot. Remember Marcus Easley? How about Evers and Fagnano? It happens because coaches are human and they instinctively want to give “their guys” a chance.
What EVERS can you mean? Agree on Osborne, really exciting prospect. Hope Tucker can give him a run for his money. Polston(sp?) also pretty exciting prospect. For Tucker’s sake, I hope that Candle is a coach that will fairly assess and then play the best guy. I’m not assuming that. I said that I hope he gets a fair chance and that Candle seems like a guy with the humility to provide him one.Of course, but I'm curious. Why is your default to assume there won't be?
because in addition to what other folks have said already, NIL investment can certainly add to cloudy judgment. After muchhhh pressuring from the press on who would be the starter, Jim Mora admitted in 2024 that UConn had made a major investment in Nick Evers and they HAD to hand the keys to him, otherwise the money spend made no sense. Why do folks question whether coaches play the best players. Have you ever played competitive sports above the youth level?
I sincerely hope
None of us will ever know what happened with Easley, although a friend at bills suggested the player had issues off the field. It happens a lot. Remember Marcus Easley? How about Evers and Fagnano? It happens because coaches are human and they instinctively want to give “their guys” a chance. It isn’t a big deal, but as a player I’d certainly want the coach to commit to me as much as I committed to him.
The player needs to communicate that, “If I stay, I want your word that I will get a fair shake and that as of now, I am one of your guys, not one of Jim Mora’s guys.”
There needs to be a meeting of the minds there. Sometimes that never happens and relationships sour quick.
Your first paragraph is a complete conspiracy theory with zero evidence. You sound like a guy in a West Virginia basement.because in addition to what other folks have said already, NIL investment can certainly add to cloudy judgment. there absolutely is precedent to the best guy NOT getting on the field - again; we saw UConn 2024 with our own eyes and the stats (TD/INT) between Joe F and Nick E that year, speak for themselves.
So Tucker's fear is valid. That Tucker is coming back, leads me to believe that Candle is doing things well and not playing favorites. I like that. Even if Tucker doesn't get on the field yet again, it will be because of his performance, and not politics. Tucker can (and should) live with that.
This was a press conference in 2024. It happened. I am too lazy to look it up but it happened.Your first paragraph is a complete conspiracy theory with zero evidence. You sound like a guy in a West Virginia basement.
