I was not intentionally being condescending, just ironic. We could write a book on Hailey Van Lith at LSU, and how the fit didn't work. The short story was that Hailey Van Lith, Flaujae and freshmen Williams all needed the ball. While they were stepping on each others feet, Morrow and Reese also played the same position, with the same style, and also got in each others way down low. This year with only 3 stars and 2 role player platoons, the spacing is actually much better for LSU. Poa for Hailey Van Lith. Basically for defense. Still if Hailey Van Lith plays 30 minutes and Poa 10, and Hailey Van Lith closes out the game in the 4th, due her good free throw shooting, and then starts again the next game, I'm not sure that's being benched. Paige B plays 29 minutes per game this season, but I wouldn't describe her off court time as being benched. More irony was of course knowing that Hailey Van Lith was a weak defender, she was still given the Clark defensive assignment (Hailey Van Lith 30 min/Poa 15 min) in the Elite 8 game vs Iowa. Tough for Hailey Van Lith on national TV. Also surprising, with all the chatter last season about the bad Hailey Van Lith fit, Hailey, FJ and Angel are all still quite friendly.:) I even thought, Hailey Van Lith might have remained at LSU for a 2nd year, toughing it out and finding a solution. That didn't happen, but it was nice to see her have a solid season at TCU. At TCU the roster is thinner, but roles are clear. Hailey Van Lith has the ball, Prince is in the post, and Connor is the spot up shooter. Worked out pretty well.
