The local talent goes to prep schools and gets recruited nationally. A lot of smaller academically tailored schools, not larger athletics focused ones. Hockey saps some talent/resources as also a winter sport.

Missouri is pretty sad too, with Southwest Missouri State leading the way.

Harvard has had some pretty good teams. Northeastern has 20 win seasons and tournament bids now and then. BC can't find a coach.
