With Michigan coming up and (most likely) taking the top spot.. what is your opinions on the best crowds/atmosphere in the Rents history?

Night game against Pitt in 2004. Perkins pick 6....Walt Harris inexplicably having Palko center the ball for a FG at the end of the half inside the 5 yard line. One of the more bizarre coaching decisions I can remember. Crowd was electric for that one.

I would add the Rutgers mishandled punt game. Great game,back and forth all afternoon. Great crowd, bitter cold and a great ending. Rutboys had it won. All he had to do was let the ball stop and be downed. Instead their best player, for get his name, tried to scoop it up, mis handled it and UConn recovered. The first time the place really rocked and people got the feel for what a terrific college football game could be like.

This was the game I thought of as well. 4th quarter with Pitt backed up to the goal line by the student section, they got consecutive false starts and had a delay of game penalty. Place was jumping.

1. The Baylor game against RG III (the one that he called the Rent the loudest stadium he played at in college) was electric. The game was exciting and close and came down to the wire. One of the few times I can recall the students staying for the ENTIRE game;

2. Pitt 2004 - I admit, I super drunk at this game and don't remember much other than the pick-6 and not having a voice for well over a week following;

3. Pitt night game (Edsall going for it on 4th and short from our 20 yard line) - I remember some sort of rap song that had the entire stadium jumping/dancing around. Crowd was even making noise on 1st and 2nd down defense in the second half!;

4. BC - if UConn had won that game, the stadium might have exploded;

5. Indiana - lots of excitement for the first game and a blowout win to create a good buzz

Pitt 2004 quite possibly loudest I've ever heard the Rent. Palko and Offense backed up in student section redzone and false started I believe twice. I was in the section and I've never heard it that loud.

Second was the Pitt game we won in OT and DJ threw the ball out of the stadium.

Third was our win at home against WVU. That stop and then fumble to win the game plus Todman's un-ending drive to move the pile and get the first down near the end of the game.

Those three crowds stand out the most to me. I was too drunk and frozen to remember the USF crowd that rain/snow game in December.

1) USF Monsoon game (BTW nobody ever calls USF a rival, but some of our most memorable games have been against USF, they should be called a rival)
2) BC game (this game easily had the best pregame tailgate Buzz)
3) Pitt game 2010 (coming off of the WVU win, everyone knew if we won this game we could win the league)
4) Indiana Game
5) The WVU win
6) Larry Taylor Louisville game and PITT 2004
7) The UNC game was intense (what could have been if Easley had been discovered) There must be 20 players from that game who are in the NFL now

There was no crowd louder than the 2004 Pitt night game. Palko had 3 false starts/delay of game penalties in a row in front of the student section. The crowd was electric on the way in, and deafening in the second half. For the first (and probably the last time) nobody left early.

Every other game is just battling for the top 5.

I like all the nominees, but I gotta go with Pitt in '04. Start to finish this game had the best and loudest crowd. The Slide has got to be one of the lowest points in the history of Pitt football.

My dark horse nominee is Duke in '06. Nuzie put UCONN ahead by 2 with a few minutes left, but Duke came right back down the field. The crowd forced a Duke false start to push the winning field goal attempt back another 5 yards for a 36 yard attempt ... no good!

I also believe it was the first night Big East game at the Rent if I recall and on ESPN or ESPN2. That's what made it even bigger.

This season will have 2 of the top games....Michigan and Maryland. I have to say i'm not sure how great the crowd will be against michigan. I'm willing to bet it'll be a 50/50 crowd.

The Larry Taylor Lville game for me, since I was rolling around the mud after the game in the pouring rain and ended up getting my jeep stuck in the mud while in four wheel drive lol, night games are the best.

It was a great game. It rained so hard before the game and we ran out of beer by 5:30PM. Could not even cook so we just drank. Bartered our crappy gas grill for a 12 pack.

Have to say the most enjoyable was the USF game in the snow. What we did in 43 seconds was still the best minute of offense by a UCONN team. Not many there but man it's the game that I still talk about.

The USF game in the rain when they were ranked leading to the first time the fans were allowed on the field. Lutrus's pick 6 really gave us a lift.
Agree about the most intense pregame being BC in 04.
The WVU game in 2011. We were going nowhere at the time and fans stayed with the team. 2nd time the fans were allowed on the field. I think the idiot security guy that bodyslammed at student was still with the security personel last year. He should have been charged with assault. Just completely clueless.
The Baylor game was a good one for noise as the teams went back and forth. RGIII was a blur on the move.
The Rutgers game mentioned where we couldn't stop Leonard all game and got the punt/muff/fumble. Rutgers brought their band to that one.
The first night game against Pitt. People were stoked and a major factor at the student end. Tyler King broke his leg late in the 4th Q on a meaningless play.
The USF snow game was magical but too many fans left early. The diehards hung in there and witnessed a great ending. We looked like a pro offense on the last drive.

Greg Robinson's sack of Matt Grothe, Todman picking up first down on fourth-and-one at UConn 19 and WVU fumble in OT are top moments so guess those are the best games. Give slight nod to USF '07 for top game, other two Pitt games ('04 '06) pretty good too

I haven't been to a lot of recent games but was at the 2004 Pitt game remember paklo false starts by the student section. It was loud for that game. I am planning on going with group of friends to Maryland game hoping it will be a sell out and a great atmosphere.
