‘99 Championship. When I have to pick one moment only I always think of Rip’s 3 with 3:29 left. Duke was close in the last 10 minutes but couldn’t catch up. That 3 convinced me that UConn wasn’t going to let Duke back in. There was plenty of time left so I’m glad I wasn’t wrong. Rashad’s 3 in the 2004 Duke game was huge. It cut the deficit to 5 and the boys took it home from there. Someone mentioned K going crazy when the ball was stolen on a drive to the hoop but it was a stop on Jason Williams, not Redick. The Okafor put back late and then Emeka being fouled with seconds left and him strutting to the line with UConn up 3 to seal it was great. He missed the first but not the second. Beating Duke always adds more to a moment. the back to back championships are unbelievable but the domination means there weren’t do or die moments late. So many moments were already talked about that are part of the Husky lore but no one has mentioned Brimah’s 3 point play v St Joe’s yet. There is no way I thought winning that game was just the first of the six that would end with the fourth title coming to Storrs. UConn handled the last five games pretty well so that was the key play of that run.
