Happy New Year to everyone. My best wishes to all for health and happiness. I changed the thread for this next game as we look ahead to 2025. Now, let's get serious because we have some real work to do. Here are my top 3 things for Wednesday and for 2025:

For Wednesday:
1) Morgan, Ice, and KK, please shoot the ball when you are open and at that moment. You will only start making them when you take them.
2) Paige to start this game same as the last, by taking charge immediately offensively, but this time doing it the whole game. At least 20 shots.
3) More player movement on the half court set and more ball movement.

For 2025:
1) Azzi in 100% form and Aubrey pretty close to the same.
2) A post game.
3) #12

What are yours for Wednesday and for 2025?

1. Azzi needs to get comfortable with her shooting
2. Paige needs to take over the point and run this team
3. Jana needs to take over the post and play with confidence.

I see too much nervous energy on the subs. It appears they think they will be removed from the game if they make a mistake. I would like to see the players needed in the end to be allowed to grow on the court in the next few weeks.

11 Huskies played against Providence. I'd like more of that in this game.

I'm at all the (home) games. I see some yipps and hesitation to take open shots but most that are substituted out are just not passing the eyeball test, not necessarily pulled on a single mistake. Most have and will likely continue to get enough time during the experimentation phase afforded by the softer big East schedule to show where they are at in their development. I don't think it is fair or best to decide who we need in the end and just ride that horse till they maybe develop. For example, does Jana just have the yips that will go away with extended minutes, or is she way further away in skill development than we at first realized. In the end, the experiments will be over and you need the players that have passed the eyeball test, particularly during the most competitive regular season games - I think by then they will all have had time to demonstrate that during practices and game conditions.

I agree but a big part of the eyeball test is stepping up to the plate, i.e. shooting the ball when you are open. I take it you play golf. I have seen the yips last a whole golf season. I'm hopeful that ain't the case here.

1 ) 40 minutes of intensity similar to the 1st of the PC game
2) UCONN forced 31 turnovers against PC yet only scored 67 points for the entire game. I don't know how many of those 67 came off of TO's but the ratio seems pretty low to me
3) Growth and fortitude from Jana. She misses too many gimmes around the basket.

2025 - I really can't wait to see KK and Aubrey on the floor at the same time. Talk about disruptive defense, could it get any better than these two? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the defensive intensity those 2 bring, will be the key to getting to the FF and the national championship.

I’m going to keep wishing for this until we get back the player who torched NC State, Texas, and Iowa before the last injury.

1. For them absolutely blow Marquette out of the water.
2. A complete 180 degree difference from the Providence game.
3. Everyone plays well and gets good minutes.

I want to see Jana getting fed the ball inside for a solid thirty minutes so that she can finally relax and know she's not getting lifted for traveling or a blown layup.......it's clear as day that her confidence is shot and the only way to build her back up is to make her stay on the court and figure it out .......she could and should be a 12-14 point scorer for this team consistently and without her contribution I'm not sure if UConn can three point shoot their way to an NC this season....

1. Jana & Ice take control of the post, rebounding, scoring, etc.
2. UConn hit a high % of their 3's
3. Use the press to create some indecision for a good part of the game

Paige Bueckers shooting enough to get 30 points or more
Azzi Fudd hitting 5 3s or more
Shade getting the offensive groove we know she has.

1. Letting Chen be Chen. The Player of the Year in the Ivy League can shoot and make plays but seems to be remaking herself as a defensive specialist. On days when Paige is doubled, we need another outside shooter. Wouldn't mind if Morgan took more shots as well.
2. More give and goes where the guard cuts to basket for a pass and layup. Other teams are playing our shooters very tight and physical. One of the first years where this has not been a tactic to keep the defense honest.
3. Let Ice shoot the mid-range shot. With Jana primarily a down low offensive player (who seems to still be missing a lot of layups), we can't let the defense sag on everyone else and clog the middle and take away Strong's drives. Not sure what Geno's message has been to Ice but when open at 10-12 feet, she can make shot.

The defensive tactics of the better teams is fairly obvious. Play Paige and Strong very physically, sag off Ice and when in, Jana and KK, and hope the others miss. When the refs let the defenders hammer Paige, seems like everyone else slows down on offense.

This game is on the EXACT same time as the men's game. What dumb scheduling. I know that a lot of you don't watch the men, but some of us do. Ridiculous.
GoUconn7961- - I record every game men's and women's so if there's a conflict I can watch the other game at a later time!
Try it saves you from going crazy!

1. The starting 5 get a solid 10 to 20 minutes of play together
2. Ash and KK getting significant minutes to let their game shine.
3. Jana getting fed in the post. Guards have to stop dribbling around and feed the post.

What I want to see for the Marquette game

#1 I want to see Jana either relax, have fun and be herself or get pissed off and be her MEAN self. Which ever it takes to get her going and play the way we know she can play.

#2 For Ice (see above for Jana)

#3. For the rest of the team...when youre open shoot...when youre not open GET OPEN. Move meaningful movement.
