As hoped and expected, our defense became reanimated and lethal against Maryland and Paige took command. Remember that a win and no injuries are automatically included. Here are my top 3 other things against Minnesota:

1) Paige to have a great Homecoming Game.

2) Play that same defense in an away game with the same intensity and energy.

3) Caroline. Please find yourself out there. We are all pulling for you.

What are your top 3?

1) Minnesota plays like a basketball team rather than a hockey team
2) Paige being Paige, only moreso
3) This is a given, but it'll be good to see Dawn Plitzuwhite at the helm of a P5 team. Her coaching also makes 1) above pretty likely.

.-.
1. Paige sets the tone early in the game
2. Ice gets more time in with AE
3. All the players continue to attack the basket

I still think they will have opponents that will require a taller line up so they need to develop Amari to the point where she can contribute in those game.

1. 30 ++ points by the " FOUR FRESHMAN "
2. Amari DeBerry 6' 6" dominates Sophie Hart # 52 6'5."
3. Azzi "rests up" with some quality " R & R" while the other upper
classmen take " ownership" of the team's play! Go Huskies!!

1--- Paige and Edwards to play like their past ALL-American status or better.
2--- Azzi and Caroline to play., and to play like All-Amercian caliber players.
3--- The remainder of the team overall "shoot the ball well."

.-.
*about 20 min. of playing time for each of the young ones
*CD finding her game
*No injuries
another one: hope Paige really enjoys her home coming game

Anyone know who is televising Minnesota game?

.-.
1. The physical and aggressive defense we saw against MD - without Paige tossing a players over her shoulder
2. More Ice, KK, Ash and Q
3. Control the boards on both ends

The three things I want to see are:

1). Like everyone so far, I want to see UConn playing that same aggressive defense.
2). Players playing loose and carefree. Don't overthink. Just play and have fun out there.
3). Uptempo play. Bring that Maryland pace to the Barn. Push the tempo.

1. Penetration and shooting by all guards including Nika.
2. Under 12 turnovers.
3. Less inside dribbling by Edwards, more straight up inside shooting
4. More baseline drives by KK Arnold. (sorry for the fourth but she is a handful!)

AE and Nika setting the tone for defensive play.
Same amount of PT for the frosh.
Paige being Paige.

BTW Does anyone know where we can get a general rundown on MN's team?

.-.
1. Paige to dominate!
2. WIN
3. Everyone play well with no injuries.

I don't care about turnover stats in general, because they can be so misleading.

the players to watch on MN are Amaya Battle (pg) Mara Braun (sg) and Mallory Heyer (f). Amaya played on Paige’s hs team and they are close friends. Mara played on the crosstown rival Wayzata hs and they are also friends. They had several close competitive games in those days and Mara usually matched up against Paige. You can find videos of them on YouTube.

Piggy-backing on Bone Dog, new coach Dawn Plitzuweit has has brought her successful South Dakota Coyote style of basketball (along with her 2021-22 coaching staff) to the Golden Gophers.

I see an unselfish team that, although young, is centered around a group that is very familiar with each other from HS and AAU days. Four of their top seven players played against Paige in HS (Mara Braun, Sophie Hart, Mallory Heyer and Nia Holloway) and one was a teammate of Paige's (Amaya Battle - Minnesota's Miss Basketball of 2022). Braun, Heyer, and Battle were starters last year, and Maggie Czinano (younger sister of Monika Czinano who was part of the 1-2 punch with Caitlin Clark at Iowa) played considerable minutes (17+) for the Golden Gophers last season. These returnees are used to playing in front of large crowds.

Braun played for USA Basketball and can get streaky hot, especially from the perimeter. 6'5" Hart (a portal transfer from NC State) has put on some bulk from her HS days and as a result doesn't run the court particularly well, but pairs nicely with the 6'1" Heyer to bring size and toughness to their front line.

They don't play rough and physical like Maryland, and haven't shown a lot of foot speed this year. But their teamwork is impressive, and they pass the ball around a lot. Like many midwestern teams, they run a lot of high ball screens to get their guards free for perimeter shots. They also like to drive the lanes and dish out to their shooters. Defense is a work-in-progress as they are still adjusting to each other in Dawn's system. As far as young teams go, this will be a fun team to watch develop over the next two years. They clearly are at ease playing with each other.

In my opinion, they play a lot like Creighton.
