Goestekors wasn't well paid, relatively speaking, by Duke for the success she brought them. Texas paid her close to $1 million and it was significantly higher than what she made in her previous job. That was thirteen years go and with the conference networks and TV deals there is considerably more money flowing in all athletic departments now. I don't think MSU could have paid Vic anywhere close to his salary with us without the infusion of dollars from ESPN. I do suspect Muffet gets a little more than listed but it's more challenging to get exact figures from independent schools. ND has deep, deep pockets and I don't think she or the AD would let her be that far behind Geno, just my two cents. You probably have a point about how important the sport is relative to the school. Football is king in the SEC but MSU women's basketball has had far more support and success the last five years than the men's team. ND and Baylor have both had pretty successful men's teams and draw well. Additionally, ND is a national brand due to their legacy of football. As a youngster I could walk into any sporting good store or discount store and find ND apparel even in small town Mississippi and Memphis. Don't shoot me metaphorically on this board but I would even like to see a football game at ND even though they aren't the team they were.
