Congrats to Tom on an unparalleled career. For the last 5 years or so I've just felt very lucky that we've been able to watch the best continue to hone his craft and thrive into his mid-40s. No one ever has or likely will ever come close to matching what Tom has accomplished in his career.
By the numbers:
-7 Super Bowl wins (more than any other player or team in NFL history)
-5 Super Bowl MVPS (1st All time)
-3x NFL MVP (2nd All Time)
-1st All Time in passing touch downs and passing yards
-35 career playoff wins (2nd place has 16)
-13,049 career playoff yards (2nd place has 7,339)
-86 career post season touchdowns (2nd place has 45)
-10 Super Bowl Appearances
-19 playoff appearances in 20 seasons as starter
-career win percentage of 76.9% (#1 all time among QBs who have played in 100+ games)
Worth noting--other than a Super Bowl win, the loss last weekend felt like a perfect way for Brady to go out. He led his team to a massive 4th quarter comeback, only for the opponent to make a huge run that set up a game winning field goal. Virtually the exact same scenario (in reverse) as his first Super Bowl win when the announcer famously said the Patriots shouldn't even try to score and take their shot in OT. Sort of a poetic ending to an amazing career.
