For the 2026 college football season, the main transfer portal window for players to enter was January 2-16, with an extra five-day window (Jan. 20-24) for players whose seasons ended with the National Championship game on January 19, but there's no deadline for players to commit to a new school; they just need to enroll by their school's semester start date. The NCAA eliminated the separate spring window, making January the primary time for players to enter the portal, though exceptions exist for coaching changes.
