I woke up this morning and then it hit me...today is going to be Uconn's last Big East game ever. I knew it was coming but today is for real. All those classic Big East match-ups, the Big East tournament, will now be only memories.
Yes, today is a very sad day.

See you at the LAST game,

Husky Pete

Right there with you Pete.

I don't think the guy at the end of your row will be sitting much today :) .

See you at 10.

I'll miss this year's team more than our conference.

The Big East was a 30 year marriage that had a hell of a honeymoon and first decade, but she became resentful after we got a promotion at work around 1990. Ten years later she started messing around on the side (ACC), so we decided to get in better shape (football upgrade), but the damage was already done. We dragged out the inevitable divorce for another decade, and at long last the paperwork has been filed and she's packing her bags.

Now we're sitting in a bar in with a guy from Cincinnati and another from Tampa, drinking piss water and hoping we're awarded alimony and/or meet a hotter woman. Let's just say I'm not feeling particularly nostalgic quite yet.

I said this summer that despite the sudden departure of so many talented players, this years team would be more fun to watch than that group. I didn't care if they won 10, 15, 19 or 20 I would really enjoy watching them work hard to be the best they could be, for US. KO, the staff and the kids exceeded my expectations and easily. This crew worked their a**es off and made basically every game worth watching to the bitter end. A few breaks they win 23 a few bad breaks they win 15 but that's okay. A questionable front line at best, a very inexperienced group of returnees besides the guards and they win 19.....would've won 20 (still may) easily without injuries but happens.

Thank you to the whole group for a really enjoyable college basketball season..........proud to be a Husky fan!!

We need a grudge duck today then. Let's put the boots to the ex one more time on the way out the door, just because we can.

Onward and upward. Time to turn the page. Hopefully UCONN will be turning two pages.

Sad day for this Friar fan. Hate seeing this come to an end. Even with the positive momentum we have and the excitement around the new league, it simply represents a step down in every way from what the BE was in its creation.

Also hate seeing the PC-UConn matchups die out. Even with the league success of your program and the failures of ours, it was still a great part of the league dynamic.

Great season for you guys. Amazing results considering what you were dealing with. I think the injury issues were too much to keep the mojo, but at least they won't cost you any postseason losses...

Auriemma said it best where football controls all. And the big east was the most diverse conference in the nation. There were football/hoops schools. Some of these schools large state Universities, some large private Universities (Pitt. Syracuse). Then we have small Catholic schools that don't play football. Finally, we had Notre Dame.
Geno said he was surprised, under these circumstances, that the league lasted this long.
