Today’s practice should be that ball breaking box out drill that they use on the first day, first because we need to remember to box out and second, but more importantly, because this team needs a toughness injection something awful. Mistakes can be forgiven, but quitting is unacceptable in a Connecticut jersey. During the drill they should hear the name of every great player who came through the school during the Calhoun era and be reminded that they never quit. Coach Hobbs and Coach Ollie need to step up and talk about heart and about how the name on jersey stands for something. They need to talk about their teammates and the pride with which they played. Mistakes happen, games are lost, but quitting is…never… ever… acceptable. Hugs and kisses aren’t working with these guys. Let’s try to get the message through another way.

Oh and by the way get rid of the Nike Elite Platinum with 3 National Championships on there. These guys didn’t earn them and their play certainly didn’t show that they have the pride to honor the guys who did the hard work before them.

+1 on ditching the warmups
before the box out drill issue edict to cease the freakin public tweeting . . .you would have thought they lost at buzzer in a heartbreaker by reading the postgame tweets and not the tank job it really was. (BTW only saw re-tweets sent out by some of The Horde, draw the line at following players)

Absolutely right....

I will be driving down to Storrs in a few days to pick up all of that fancy schmancy Nike, Elite Platinum gear....you know, so they won't be, like, tempted to wear it again, or anything....

I am willing to do so much for this team, it scares me sometimes....

If I were coach, the first time anyone put their head down or didn't hustle I would kick the entire team out of practice. Tell them to come back when they are willing to fight. Tell them to take a look around and see the pictures of past Huskies and remember what it means to put that uniform on. Come back when you understand that!!!!

I wonder if players are throwing up as many shots before and after practice as Kemba did last year? They need to shoot ... shoot.... then shoot some more. After that they should shoot again .... and before they are done they should shoot a lot more. I don't doubt that they know how to properly shoot the ball ... but perhaps they have been picking up some bad habbits. For example shooting off balanced threes instead of inside jumpers .... practice makes perfect....

Players and coaches need a mental and emotional day off. I personally wouldnt have held practice today. Give them a little break from basketball after that nightmare game and let them think about how they performed a little bit.
