I have been pretty critical of what has been happening the past few weeks, but listening to the players today really opened my eyes not just on the players but also the coaches.
Per Chadwick…all the coaches have been fully engaged on preparing for the bowl game. He said having the coaches so engaged made it easy for the players to be engaged and I am surely greatly helped with player retention.
We have given Brock some flack on here…but he has another job already and he has kept his entire defense together for the bowl game. We all know the D will need as much experience as possible for the triple option. Sammis can’t help the fact that Fagnano and a couple OL opt out, but I am sure Edwards and Bell are playing because of their respect for Sammis. I think Sammis will figure out how to exploit Army’s defense no matter who is at QB.
So…with an intact defense and some key playmakers on the field, I am feeling much better about the bowl game and UConn’s chances. I am also feeling better that the players aren’t all in it for the NIL. Teamwork and brotherhood still exist. I thank the coaches and players who have stayed for doing the right thing and finishing what they started.
Lastly…good job by UConn media to ask the tough questions and getting some of the real facts out there. We have given them flack this year also…but they didn’t shy away from asking things that we have all been curious about,
